When we were looking at the car, we inquired about satellite radio. The salesman said that it had satellite radio and we saw something on the dealer sticker that said Sat Capabl. We took that based on what the salesman said to mean that the stereo is satellite capable with the activation of a satellite radio subscription. He pointed out a card in the documents that he said was a complimentary subscription to Sirius XM Satellite Radio. We didn't get round to it straight away. We tried to phone and activate the subscription on Saturday only to find out that the car doesn't have satellite radio and that we'd have to purchase an add-on module to be able to receive it.
After researching it, we have to have a separate unit installed with another antenna added to the car. We feel that this will butcher the stock appearance and ruin our new Mustang. We don't want all the extra wires running all over and the loss of the auxiliary input and power points for it. We wanted those for our IPod and Radar Detector or phone chargers, etc. The salesman told us that they had to swap out computers and motherboards in the car to give us satellite radio and that it's too expensive, costing thousands of dollars, involves ripping out the whole dash and more, or go with the add-on unit that will ruin the appearance of the car. He offered us $50 out of his pocket for the add-on unit. We declined.
We are bitter, angry and disappointed because before the deal we stressed that we were Nascar fans and wanted the Sirius XM radio for that channel as we'd had it in our 2009 Mercury Milan and our 2011 Ford Fusion. We are really upset that he lied to us. It's too late to take the car back and we're stuck with a 2014 Mustang that is without a feature that we expressly stated our desire to have installed in it. I know it's not the end of the world but with shelling out the cash for a brand new car, we expect what we were promised by Ford Sales at their dealership. Very disappointed! We don't want to have to spend even more money to purchase an aftermarket stereo just to get the features that had been promised to us by the dealership.
