About the time I got this car, it would frequently stall at stoplights. The engine would just slow and slow and then cut out. I think it was a fairly easy fix but my dad took care of it and I don't remember what it was. It does it occasionally now, but usually only when I'm backing uphill at slow speeds, so it's not too much of an issue.

i just bought a 94 ford probe. allegedly sat for 2 yrs. previous owner put spark plugs + wires and such in but it hesitates at full throttle. irritating when trying to accelerate quickly. i took out the dirty filter and it helped a bit. I got throttle-body cleaner to spray in case it was varnished. after i took off the plastic and sprayed the cleaner the car ran perfect no hesitation. ( without the plastic ) Put it back together and it still hesitates. Could it be the MAF?

The car ran fine. One morning, it would not start. I checked the inertia switch, fuel pump, battery, etc. It was a crank position sensor. Car started. Ran for one day and did the same thing. It was the distributor. Car started fine but started doing the same thing. There is a serious issue with the distributors on these, so I was considering the modification I found online. A guy on a forum told me to check the fuel pump. I took it out and changed it, the strainer and filter. Internal pieces to the pump were corroded to the point of not existing.
Most irritating thing - Without replacing all three of these parts, the car would not start. If I had replaced the wrong part, I could've put all the old parts back on once I narrowed the issue and that was not possible. All three parts went out together and no part is cheap for a Probe. Half the standard parts are junk and require modifications or after-market parts but that doesn't change the price. Also, Ford put the ignition module in the dang distributor on this. Bad idea...even worse idea is charging more for the module than a new distributor with the IM in it. There is no easy access panel to the fuel pump as it is in the tank. These cars sit low, so good luck changing that without a lift.
