Excessive rust through frame. Integrity failed.

While my truck was sitting in the parking lot at work I came out for a brake and I noticed that the bed of the truck was sitting against the cab. This truck is washed and kept out of the weather and it seems strange that the frame is rotten before the body is. I know that the rocker panels and fender wheels normally rot out but they are still mint.

The whole frame has rusted and eroded causing the gas tank assembly to drop from the carriage and could have been fatal as my wife was driving the truck.the frame is shot. No one (body repair shops ) will touch it for liability reasons. I have not seen a recall on this like the ones for the Toyota Tacoma. But I'm sure I can not be the only one. I can not resell it in its present state as it is unsafe to drive and I could not do that. I am looking for some help. I do not think a truck should completely rot away in 14 years.

Was loading a washing machine in the bed of the truck, and heard a crack. I looked under the truck to see the left rear shock mount broken off the frame. Upon further inspection I found the frame had holes rusted through in numerous spots. The body is good shape. I wash the truck regularly, including the under side, so I don't know why it has rotted in spots. I am very unhappy about this, as I have older trucks that have not rusted, that see harsh use on our farm. This is my daily driver that is for personal use, and I loved this truck till I saw that.

The frame on my 2000 Ford Ranger has rusted through to the point I don't feel safe putting anything in the bed of my truck. It needs to be repaired before I will even feel safe putting it back on the road. I couldn't believe the poor overall condition of the frame but the worst part is at the rear leaf spring shackles, holes completely through. Haven't checked the rest of the frame thoroughly but will this week before I decide if it's even worth the cost of repairs. This was very disappointing to find on a truck that has been fairly well maintained over the years. I wish I would have gotten a full size truck. I guess I better do a little research before I buy something else. I found out that a lot of people are/were aware of the frame issues with these trucks many years ago. I wish I would have done a little homework before buying this Ranger, at least I would have oil sprayed or something to prevent premature failure. Will have to see what else is out there next time I buy a truck. I was hoping to find frame recall info on this issue but I see there are a lot of upset Ranger owners out there because there isn't one. My previous F150 was around for a lot longer than this one will be. Signed. Disappointed with my 2000 Ranger XLT extended cab 3.0.

I have a 2000 Ranger and was told by a repair shop that is not safe to drive due to the rear shackles and leaf spring hangers being completely rotted off the frame. The whole rear frame is rotted also and barely holding the rear bumper on. I researched this problem and found that almost every Ranger like mine has this problem, both older and newer years. This issue is so bad that auto parts stores are keeping these parts in stock. These trucks are not safe and should be recalled especially in states which do not have annual inspections like mine, Michigan.

Well the frame looks very cheap now and is really flaking badly almost to the point where I don't know if I should even drive the vehicle. There is a huge hole in the frame that went unnoticed until now.

Bought truck for my son for 3,500 a month later frame rusted thru. Stopped him from driving it death trap ett auto sales gave me 1000 dollars back burned me for 2500. Springs were coming off.frame other side cracked. Sparetire rusting off.this vehicle should be crushed.

Two-thousand Ford Ranger with the frame rotted out on rails and cross member. This truck has only 51,000 miles and will no longer pass inspection. The engine, body and interior is perfect. These trucks should be under a mandatory recall just like Toyota trucks.

Component structure: Frame and members:underbody shields. Vehicle will not pass inspection due to broken frame. Auto mechanic told me the engine is about to fall out due to frame.

The frame on the truck is cracked badly behind the cab on the passenger side. There is not excessive rust to justify the cracked frame. The truck was in a minor accident over a year ago and was repaired completely. There was a complete inspection of the whole truck at that time and there was no frame damage. The truck is making a rattling sound behind the cab and we need to make a repair to fix this before continuing to drive it. Wondering if there is a recall on the 2000 Ford Ranger like the Toyota.

I took the truck to have muffler replaced and behind both front wheels the frame is rotten to the point it is no longer safe to drive. 3 years ago I had the tie rod end fall out in the driveway. The truck runs great, body is still shiny and in good shape but the frame is totally rotten. When the truck was about 4 years old the oil pan rotted out and to replace it the motor has to be pulled. I maintained the truck well only to find out it is junk at 78,000 miles and only worth junk price. Seem I am not the only one with this happening. I have always bought Ford trucks but not anymore.

This is the second time this truck has failed N H state inspection for frame problems, first time was for a rusted through cross member which I had to have welded,11/17/2009. Now I go back for another inspection on 11/30/2012 and was told I had to replace rear shackles which I say ok, the repair shop calls me and tells me the frame is rotted through and they can not put in the, frame has to be replaced from back to about 4 feet to the front and at another cost of 350$ the last cost was the same 350$.I take very good care of this truck and the body looks like new.the welding shop guy told me he had to do several of these repairs to even 2002 Ford trucks, I can not see the reason for this, this is the first of any cars or trucks I have ever owned that had frame problems, can you help recoup some or all of my money on this, I am disabled and on a fixed income and can not afford to throw money out the window, thanks for your help. I have a 13 year old Ford Ranger that has frame rust. My mechanic states I have to condemn the vehicle, because it will break and cause a dangerous incident. It seems to me this should not be happening at such a young age of a vehicle. Also I do not reside or take the truck near where heavy applications of road salt is used. I have done some research via google and have found numerous incidences of this type of wear. I don't know if you have had any reported malfunctions, but let's add this to the list. No failures have occured with my truck yet.

Cracked frame on passenger side by shock mount, both rear shock mounts rusted off. Also rear leaf spring shackles rotted off. As well as the spare tire crossmember completely rotted off causing my spare tire to fall off while driving!. thank god no one was behind me. Truck only have 124K on it and it is imaculent shape other than the frame..very disappointed also I clean and maintain my trucks very well.. I wash it at least one a week and I wash the underneath then I drive around till its dry and still its in poor shape.. none of my other trucks do this so its not how I maintain them.

The frame rotted out on the driver's side where the rear spring shackles mount to....there is a fist size hole right through the frame..after removing the box, the whole frame is full of heavy flaked pieces of rust....all the mounts/bolts are rusted along w/the spare tire crossmember...
