The frame on my 2000 Ranger is rotted completely out. I replaced transmission, gas line, brake hoses, calibers, and a # of other things, things are just breaking all the time due to rusted frame. My motor is fantastic. Please get Ford to recall this issue, $10,000, dollars tied up into a peace of junk.

I bought a 2000 Ford Ranger 4 years ago from Wayne County Ford PA. for $10,000+, the truck was a cream-puff to look at. Since then I've invested another $4,000 in repairs such as, two sets of head gaskets, intake manifold gasket, front hubs and bearings, front rotors, complete tune-up, also replaced rotten brake-lines and serviced the vehicle regularly just to name a few. Now I am told the vehicle is UNSAFE DUE TO ROTTED OUT FRAME. When I took it back to Ford, the Service Writer, Salesman and Mechanic said it was the worst they have ever seen. After having the owner of the dealership look at the vehicle I asked him if he would just throw the vehicle away? NO ANSWER Then I asked for someone from Ford to come and look at the vehicle, Ford said NO, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!!!!!! Ford has a metal plate that gets slid up to replace the rotten frame so that the rear shackle can be bolted to that for safety. FORD is admitting that they have a problem just by having this plate, but are not willing to help in any way. Toyota, had a similar problem but they helped their customers unlike FORD. Is FORD telling us after 11 years or 90,000 miles, just throw the truck away? To me it seems that if you buy AMERICAN Vehicles, the American Dealers are not willing to support their products, so why buy American? I am a FORD man and have purchased 5 Ford vehicles in the past 4 years but I am thinking twice about that now Has anyone else run into this problem? I would like to hear from you.

I had to sell the truck since it was unsafe to drive with the rusted out frame. I should have realized something was wrong when the bed of the truck started to rub against the cab. Many of this type of vehicle were for sale in the paper; I'm sure other owners had the same problem and were trying to unload their truck(s). P.S. the rest of the body on my truck was in fine shape.
