Ranger FX-4 4.0L Sohc

  • Automatic transmission
  • 101,000 miles

Known problem with Rangers, Explorers, and Sport Traks (75,00-100,00 miles). The integrated crankcase pulley/inertial dampener fails. The pulley separates and the pulley moves closer to the engine, destroying the crankshaft sensor, and sometimes the AC system line.. Pain in the butt repair, so do it yourself or be nice to your mechanic. Youtube how-to videos available. I'll do it right myself, but not happy at all. Looking at around $230 for parts. This is my third Ranger; nice truck but not as reliable as earlier models.

Shame on you, Ford. You knew and should have fixed this. My loyalty has not been rewarded. This is the kind of failure that strands people in the middle of jack-sh*t nowhere. No excuse.

Ranger XLT V6 Efi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

My truck would shut off when going down the road. I had it diagnosed by Ford dealer as the fuel pump. I replaced the fuel pump. The problem continued so I replaced the ignition coil, the problem continued. I took it back to the dealer and they diagnosed it as the fuel inertia switch. Never heard of one before. They replaced it and the truck has run fine ever since.

Ranger 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 83,000 miles

Bought 2005 Ford Ranger from Planet Suzuki here in Charlotte NC and had for 2 months and engine stalled and would not start. Pd. $12,000 I know too much..Had fair credit that's why..Anyway took back to dealer and they did not want to fix. They gave me some sh*t like "Well you had it for a couple of months now so your responsible for your own repairs" I blew up..This was the sales mgr. that told me this. I told him you sold me a truck for this price and it's your responsibility to fix it not me, since I only had it for a couple of months now. You just don't sell someone a lemon and expect them to pay for it after 2 months ownership..They bitched and complained and replaced some sensor..Well now it won't turn again, at all. I can't even move it..So I am going to go to dealership today to see what they say. They better fix it or give me another vehicle..Will keep you updated..

Ranger

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

I bought this vehicle @ 25K miles, a 2.3L engine in excellent condition. I thought got a bargain. After reading the complaints from so many people I am convinced that I have been dropped. The fact that Ford has not put out a recall on this is beyond me. I guess after someone is killed and the assholes at Ford are sued for untold millions that is when a recall might happen. I hope I am not the person to get killed because the vehicle just dies while driving and a some other car hits me.

No need to worry Ford, I will not f*ck with your vehicles ever again. Hello GM
