Ranger Sport 3.0L

Just purchased this vehicle a month ago privately. Found out heater control does not work. It has full open heat all the time, knob turns but heat setting does not change. It does not go cold when turned to the cold setting. I do however have cold air when the air conditioning setting is turned on. Any ideas on the problem and the fix?
