I am a first time Ford owner and until today I was pleased with the product. I purchased the above, May15, 2014 from Kia with 28K mileage. The vehicle was Carproof Verified(no damages).
A week ago, I notice the hood and right fender paint crackling, looking like windshield crack. I went to the dealership who the sent me to their collision center. They in turn informed me that I was no longer covered for this and gave me a $2048.13 estimate for repairs. The estimator told me he had never seen a Ranger with this issue this early in its life.
I have never owned or heard of a vehicle needing this kind of work until at least 8-10 years. I find it hard to believe a 41 K vehicle having this trouble and not being covered under a recall. Also the estimator blamed the paint companies for selling Ford an inferior paint product. This would lead me to believe that Ford should hold themselves accountable for the end product. I called the complaints department and was given the same spiel. I tried escalating it through Ford and again same lame story. I am certainly not paying $2K and will most likely be trading this in. There has got to be something else one could do, the paint is going to just fall off. Please help.
