As the car was parked by the farm gate idling in order to open the gate of the farm, the engine just stopped running. Upon checking, the coolant bottle was empty and we realized that the hose taking water to the radiator had broken/burst. As a result the engine had overheated and when we replaced the hose and added coolant the engine started but had a knock. Since the car was no longer on warranty we enlisted the services of a mechanic who told us that one piston was damaged.
The annoying thing is that the car overheated with no warning sign from the temperature gauge. On a further enquiry I was told that at some point, you have to replace all water hoses on the Ford if not it will break the hoses and overheat without any warning. This is crazy, what the hell is the temperature gauge made for then? Shouldn't it go up to show that the engine is over heating.
Today I have not repaired the car because it is ridiculously expensive to repair the engine and or buy the parts. My entire investment I used to buy this car has just gone to waste.
