problem #2

Ranger XLT 2.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,800 miles

Dealer updated PCM with new software but problem is still happening. Engine RPM does not go up and gears do not engage until I depress the accelerator pedal 3+ times, at which point the transmission "thumps" into gear. This has happened a few times after decelerating from 35 to 15, or from 60 to 35, when going around a corner.

Ranger XLT 2.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

Part of the time it is just annoying but it can be really dangerous. It happens when you are slow rolling with no pressure on the accelerator. IE Making a hard turn in a subdivision. You're slowing rolling into the turn and then step on the accelerator. It feels like the old carburetor days and your carb is flooded. Nothing happens as far as the transmission engaging at all. It continues to do that for several beats and then bam it grabs a gear and throws your vehicle forward. Also happens. The above is the annoying times. When you're pulling into a busy highway and traffic is coming and you expect to hit the gas and go and you just continue to slow roll into traffic coming at you. Seems to happen in all driving modes. Sport, normal and eco
