Mine was not the first but was an early one to report it. The problem occurs when the "pressed" on slave sprockets break loose and spin on the camshaft tube. If the engine is warm when this happens you only suffer bent valves which cost near $3000 or more to repair. If the engine is cold, the valve heads break off and ruin the entire engine which lists for $13,000 and is no longer available as so many of these failures occurred. Ford covered a very limited number of these under warranty but have refused others.
First indication might appear but not always as a ticking noise resembling a sewing machine quickly progressing to sounding like a diesel engine as the sprocket loosens. When it completely fails the engine dies.
