Rotors replaced twice / resurfaced 4X in 30000 mi. Pads also replaced 4 times in 30000 mi. Vehicle shakes side to side wildly when brakes applied at speed.

This vehicle was purchased with good brakes, with approximately 30000 miles we have replaced pads 4 times, and also have replaced the calipers & rotors, and now the speed sensor. Is this an ongoing problem with this vehicle? the unit is smoking when driven.

I have had to replace the brake rotors twice on this vehicle since purchased new. Dealer cut rotors upon initial complaint and problem returned within 3000 miles. Dealer offered to replace rotors at my cost informing me they were not covered under warranty. Rotors were again replaced at 60,000 miles and problem has again returned only 2,000 miles later. This appears to me to be a design failure as I have spoken to many people who have experienced this very same problem.

A grinding sound was heard from the rear of the car, the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer who found that the rear disc brakes along with the rotors needed to be replaced, this repair was not covered under warranty and the consumer feels that it should be.

While driving from 35 mph and above grinding and pulsation from front brakes lead to replacment of brake pad and rotors three times at 40,000 miles ABS "electronic control unit" replaced 50,000 miles $700 repair.

Car has no engine braking on coast down. In fact throttle seems to open when coasting down a grade. This requires braking to prevent runaway. Believe this has resulted in premature brake wear and warped rotors. The last car I owned that had this problem was a 1972 nova, which opened the throttle to prevent NO2 emissions. I thought we had progress. Ford needs a better way to control emissions.

To, whom it my concern. I bought a brand new Ford Taurus in 1998 with in the first two years of owning the car we've had new rotors put on the car twice this wil be the third time it will be going into the shop for front brakes. Each time I go they tell me that (the are just warped and we will replace them for you at no charge ). but, after having the car back for a couple of week the same sever shuttering happens. This has been and on going problem from the start. The brakes on this car are not capable of handling the weight of the car. The second concern is the way the car S trans is shifting, also leaks. In 99 I had a Ford shop look at the trans. They said the speed sensor was leaking they replaced it free of charge but, when the car shifts gears aruond a corner at idle or coasting and I go to step into the gas it like its in neutal this makes me feel as if I'm not in control of the car. Just a note I love Ford but, I've not had any luck in fixing any of these probles. Thanks sincerly james quinn.

When braking consumer would hear a grinding and grumbling noise, this happened at 30,000 miles. Consumer felt that brakes were worn out. Took vehicle to dealer, and had top front and back brakes redone.
