Taurus 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,000 miles
The power door locks occasionally unlock automatically while driving the vehicle or when parked. Problem continued until lock actuators failed and the doors could only be locked or unlocked manually. Dealer replaced three failed actuators ($500) and the doors began to automatically unlock again.

I have had trouble getting the key to work in the ignition switch and the door and trunk locks. The key will go in the locks, but it will not turn to unlock as it should. It takes some time to get them to work. I have started to leave the doors unlocked so I will be able to get in the car in an emergency. This has been an ongoing problem since January of 2002.
