Consumer has 2000 Ford Taurus. Fuel pump died in mid March. Consumer has been in contact with Ford for two weeks. Consumer contacted dealer before burning ethanol, and was told that as long as the vehicle was marked fuel flexible she could burn ethanol. Burning ethanol was the reason the consumer believed the fuel pump failed. The emission control lights came on and then the vehicle began to surge and die. The consumer said this happened in her driveway. It could have been a real safety issue. The vehicle was serviced for emission light on May 20th. The sticker on the inner door of the gas tank read use ethanol or unleaded fuel only. The consumer needed a new fuel pump because it was not holding pressure. The consumer was told the vehicle was not a flex fuel vehicle and that it had been mis-labeled and the vehicle was only to have unleaded fuel not ethanol.
