Consumer stated that in December 2003 one spring was replaced along with one strut and the tire on driver's side. Currently, the vehicle was being recalled for the replacement of both front coil springs, and dealershi refused to do so. Consumer later contacted the manufacturer, and they too refused to replace the springs at no charge. Consumer dreceive a recall notice for this defect.

While pulling out of the driveway driver side front strut broke, and front coil spring punctured, causing a 6 inch slash in the front driver's side tire. Dealership replaced the strut. The problem recurred on the passenger's side while stopping at a stop sign, but didn't puncture the front passenger side tire.

While in the driveway vehicle was parked and consumer heared a loud noise coming from the garage. Left front strut broke and cut the front tire, vehicle was no longer under warranty.

While driving 5 mph front passenger spring/struts/axle snapped and failed. Consumer managed to pull over, and had the vehicle towed. Dealership was in the process of repairing the problem.

Excessive front tire wear due to design and/or manufacturing defect in upper strut plate installation, resulting in improper alignment/chamber that cannot be corrected through realignment. This can result in tire failure, with obvious catastrophic results.
