Taurus SE 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 138,000 miles

OK so I buy this car from a dealership and of course the salesman says "The transmission on this thing is solid" 3 months later it starts to slip, then the fuel pump goes out cause I can't drive it. Its bullsh*t 100% and of course to get a decent enough transmission you have to pay $800 and then 110 on the fuel pump. Haven't got it fixed yet cause of course I don't have that sort of money to pull out of my ass. I'm just lucky my husband is a mechanic. Still bullsh*t. F**K FORD!! I wish I didn't love my car so dang on much! I say stay away from the 2000 ford Taurus if you have the option. SERIOUSLY!

Taurus SE 3.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

I took the car to the Ford Dealer and they wanted to flush / maybe replace the transmission. I took the car to an independent repair shop. He asked me "do you have a cell phone?". I said "yes". He said "Run it until the transmission falls out or your can not stand the slipping anymore." It only slipped on long trips when it would get hot or if I excelled real fast. It started around 75,000 miles and my daughter totaled the car with 172,000 miles. The car held up great in a head on wreck and even though she had a broken hip and ankle the cage of the car held up great. I thought the transmission was a fluke. Guess what? I bought a replacement 2003 Ford Taurus with 68,000 miles and at almost exactly 75,000 miles I have the exact same slip. I will continue to drive it until it falls out but this is definitely the last Ford I buy.

Jerks and tuggs into gears. Not all the time but more frequent as it goes along. Think that is my last Taurus. Does Ford have a "Better ideal"?

Taurus SE

  • Automatic transmission
  • 81,000 miles

My car starting slipping in reverse only about 1 month ago. It seems to be getting worse. I called the Ford Company and they said to bring it to a Ford garage. I did do that they said that I should get a Transmission flush and IF that helped to get another one in about 4-6 wks. I also got another opinion from a local transmission shop and he said that it is an internal problem and that I would have to get my transmission "dropped" and looked at. (That a transmission flush would not help any because if that were the problem it would also slip in forward as well.) Which would cost anywhere from $1200 - $1700 and I would be without a vehicle for a min. of 3 days. I just don't understand why this is happening the local guy told me that my transmission fluid is a little dirty but not bad enough to cause this problem. My car only has 81 thousand miles on it! It is a 2000 in year. What the heck is going on. I still owe on this car too, so I can't just go and buy a different vehicle.

Taurus SE 3.0 flex fuel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

Took the car in when it was still covered under the warranty. I was told the transmission was not slipping... (I really dont know where they got off trying to tell me that) Anyways they refused to fix the problem that according to them (dont exist). okay, i drive the f'in car everyday... The transmission was slipping. And still to this day does (now it's just worse). They (Ford) "fixed" the problem by "changing the computer code".

crusing down the highway in or out of cruise mode. transmission likes to pulse or hit hard. kinda like when you rev it up in neutral and drop it into gear. tried getting a trans flush, problem continued. installed new trans filter, problem got worse.
