Ok i want to add to the 2001 Taurus blowing cold air . First we found the thermostat was not opening , changed it & no difference, still cold air . Second i flush out heater core and all coolant lines to eliminate any blockages if and (not sure if water bypassed threw the core or flushed it out .Third said it may be a water pump, original water pump on car so i removed it and water pump was ok but she wanted a new one on so i changed it (it don't like to change parts if they don't solve the problem) Now the blend door and actuator was changed before i got to it ,as i was told a Master Mechanic put it in but he could not solve problem , so i don't put much stock in the master mechanic . Had to put a new set of heater assembly hoses on as the steel tubes were rusted and sprung a leak from all the fusing around . Okay get the car running with out the rad cap on trying to burp this system and its a pain to do it but we had a low temp of heat , put rad cap on after system was burped and blew the cold air . So my thoughts are to check if a heat sensor which actuates a vacuum door threw the temperature main control dash settings just a thought . I would like to double check the actuator motor that operates the blend door which is accessible when you pull out the radio , cause i don't trust the other persons opinion LISTEN this is a problem that people spend to much money on not to get problem solved . the Heatertreater.com has replacement blend doors fix kits . OK the heater core, water pump, were and are not a problem with this issue in my opinion i may get back to this to help her out and will touch base in the future

My car will blow air but no heat. I checked the coolant and it is fine. Anyone know how to fix?, or how much it might run to fix?

I found the problem with the heater was connected to another problem with the engine coolant. My heater quit working at the beginning of spring, so with the warm weather ahead I didn't really worry and eventually forgot. One day I pulled away from my work, and didn't even get down the street when the water gauge skyrocketed to H! I immediately pulled over and let it cool down. After pulling over a few times, it stopped doing it so i drove home with the windows down and the air off. The next day it did it again, so I had it checked by the local mechanic. Turns out my engine coolant was empty, even though the car had been fully serviced two months earlier when I purchased it from my grandmother. He filled it up and I went on my way. About three weeks later it did it again, so I went to O'rileys and bought some coolant myself. Fixed. I had a leak, but no one could find it, the engine coolant was just disappearing. My father-in-law wanted a crack at it, and I accepted thinking I couldn't go wrong. He poured a green liquid with some little metal marbles into the thing, and I never had the problem again!

Heat none, I have had the system flushed, burb, just to make sure it was not air locked, new thermostat, new tank, new heater core, and new control to finally get the system to work like new again. For both cars to do the same thing around the same milliage with cars always kept up to date on repairs and this to happen. What kind of crappy material did ford use. The cheapest they could find. From rear springs to heat problems to arms breaking in front. Ford these cars suck and you must have big B---- to come back out with A new one this year. I wouldn't buy another Taurus or any other Ford product Because of these issue I have had and 1000's of others have had with the same issue. Ford stand up and admit your vechicles suck and you need to fix them. No more Fords in this family again

What do I do for this problem? I really don't have the money to take my car to a shop. Where can I get a heater core, if that's the problem, and how much does it cost?

awful to gouge someone for this problem when you need heat, tear out the dash, always cleaning the windshield, had to go back smelling antifreeze, turns out out to be something else with a seal, another couple of hundred bucks. just awful.

All of a sudden the heater stopped working. There is ice formation on the inner side of windshield during overnight parking.

I took it to the Dealer on 11/08, they had it for a week. they flushed the heater core said it worked - I think it did for a day - I took it back 11/28, they flushed it again said it was clogged. Worked for a day -- still doesn't work now - but they put 2 new tires and new springs on the car they had it a week. Total bill $1,357.00 and still no heat

My 2001 Ford Taurus' heater blows cold air. Defrost blows cold air. Had thermostat replaced. Had the coolant flushed. Had the water pump replaced. Still heater not working . Could the heater core be clogged? A/C is working.

I have a 2001 ford Taurus which blows cold air no matter how long the car is running. The temperature gauge fluctuates between cold and normal while driving.
- William M., Detroit, MI, US
The heater stopped working. It would only blow cold air no matter how long you let it warm up. The temp gage never moved it was always showing a normal. It eventually ended up being the heater core. But we replaced the thermostat first before coming to that conclusion.

The heater and defroster will not get warm. The ac works fine, but the heat will not come out. The heater and defroster modes blow air, but its cold air. I can turn the mode control to the vent, and it'll blow a little warm air for just a few minutes, but none of the other modes blow any warm air. I replaced the temperature control switch (in the dash, turns from the blue side to red side), checked for leaks, put in new thermostat, flushed out the heater coil, and still no heat. Heater coil seems to be ok. I do not have any idea what it will take to fix it or how much it will cost. If someone knows, please reply.

Heater only blows out cold air very miserable and hard to keep the windows defrosted ice crystals form on the inside windows. I was told $200 to remove dash to fix. Already changed the thermostat and the antifreeze is full no one has money for that
