I read an article today concerning the us is investigating Ford tauruses for stuck throttles, model years 2005-2006. Please consider expanding the investigation to include the 2001 model year. I purchased the car used from a Ford dealer in 2004 (approx) and have been having the same problem of the car engine speeding-up when coming to a stop. The article is located at: money.cnn.com/2012/03/12/autos/ford_taurus_investigation/index.htm?source=cnn_bin after many attempts, the Ford dealer could not find the cause of the problem and the car is still doing it today. The warranty company, back in 2004/2005, said they were going to report this problem to the NHTSA, but I am not sure if they ever did. Thank-you.

On June 4th, I was travelling on I-95 South bound (New Jersey turnpike) when all of a sudden my 2001 Ford Taurus lost power, and stalled out. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder. I took it to an independent mechanic who advised that the engine head gasket may be the cause. After taking it to the dealer they advised that this is not covered, since the warranty has expired. I only have 33,000 miles on the vehicle, and this should nevere happen to any Ford product, especially with 33,000 miles. Obviously, their is an engine problem that Ford may not want to address, and as always the consumer gets the short end of the stick. I strongly belive there is a considerable defect with this model engine and should be investigated.

Have complained to dealer/Ford Motor Company re: Foul odor when heat is running. Was told that I probably had a high sensitivity to allergies. Complained about having to replace breaks at 15,000 miles. Had to replace oil gasket pan twice within the same year. Dealership did not find this unusual. Car accelerates without warning sometimes. The motor is making a rushing noise. Was told that this was the normal sound of the motor although it did not start until six months down the road. Had to take car back to replace back/warped windshield after having it one day. Dealership will not even allow me to trade vehicle and does not acknowledge fact that too many things have gone wrong in too short a period of time. Purchased vehicle in 2002.

Problem with engine failure. The consumer's service dealer had been unable to determine the cause of the engine failure. There was a noise coming from the driver's side wheel (front wheel was chopped), and the vehicle stalled. Various componets were replaced, however the vehicle continued to stall.
