At around 85,000 miles I noticed his "clunking" noise from the front end, mostly from the left side of the vehicle about a year ago and it got progressively worse. Took the vehicle to a neighbors son who was an auto mechanic for 15 years. The left front strut was bad and leaking alot of oil, we replaced both front struts but the clunking was still there. I jacked the front end up and noticed that the left ball-joint was "sloppy", replace it and the clunk was still there. Took the vehicle to another mechanic and he found that the rack-n-pinion assembly/gear is worn out. I'm not saying that we spent extra money on the other 2 fixes because they too were worn out. I've had other brands of vehicles that I've driven over 200,000 miles and never have I had to replace so many things in a front end. Come on Ford-get it right! This maybe the last Ford that I ever buy.
