I have never had problems with rear suspensions on any cars that I have owned, which were quite a few. I presently have five and I keep my cars and take good care of them and they last a quite awhile.. Right now we have a 1997, 2001, 2003, 2004 and a 2008. General maintenance and repairs for worn parts like brakes, exhaust in this manner is normal, but never have I had a car with rear suspension problems. Four of my cars are under 52,000 miles... The 2004 has over 140,000 which I just acquired. They had a recall for the front suspension July 15,2004. My rear springs were really bad when I just had my car inspected this month and the mechanic showed me both of them and I was very fortunate that it didn't cause problems puncturing my rear tires... I have never seen anything like it in and it is very disrespectful for Ford to just let it ride, knowing that problems like this is not an average complaint or a typical maintenance problem especially when vehicle still has low mileage and was garage kept. I mostly owned Fords my whole life, two that I have now are fords, one is the 1997. No wonder why you see more foreign cars on the road.. America doesn't seem to make things the way they use too> What a shame-your actions created reasons for buying products overseas, but you are the first ones to cry because of it.

I was getting a routine oil change when the repair man said that both of my rear coil springs were broken on my '01 Taurus. He mentioned hat a broken coil spring can puncture tires and lead to severe accidents if not taken care of. He further explained that it would cost roughly $1400 to replace the coil springs, shocks, fittings, etc... I had never heard this severe of a problem with a vehicle that has less than 100K. I further did research on the issue to find that thousands of complaints and the best that Ford will say is, " It has not caused any serious accidents." I thought to myself, "You have got to be kidding me, right?" I cannot believe that we have to wait for someone to be seriously injured or killed before a company owns up to the faulty part, and pay for the damn repairs. If they would have built the parts the way they should have there wouldn't be any problems. If Ford does not fix this problem, I know I will never buy another F.O.R.D. (Fix Or Repair Daily)!

THE FRONT SUSPENSION SPRINGS ARE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. MY PROBLEM WAS THE REAR SPRINGS. I FOUND A PIECE OF MY RIGHT REAR SPRING ON THE GROUND NEXT TO MY RT REAR WHEEL. I DID NOT REALIZE WHAT IT WAS UNTIL I HAD TO STOP ON THE WAY HOME DUE TO A RUBBING NOISE I WAS HEARING FROM THE REAR. TOOK CAR TO DEALER (BILL MARSH FORD-NEWTOWN, PA). THEY SAID ONLY FRONT SPRINGS ARE COVERED UNDER RECALL, NOT REAR. PAID APPROX $302 TO HAVE BOTH REAR SPRINGS REPLACED. I KEPT THE OLD SPRINGS. JUST AS AN ASIDE, SAME DEALER SERVICE DEPT OFFERED TO SELL ME REAR SHOCKS ALSO. SAID MOST OF LABOR WOULD BE INCLUDED WITH SPRINGS. I COULD NOT DO THAT AT THAT TIME AND HAD TO DECLINE. ABOUT 4 MONTHS LATER, I WAS CHECKING AIR PRESSURE IN MY TIRES. ALL FOUR TIRES HAD 40 LBS OF AIR. MY RIDE AT THE TIME WAS SIMILAR TO THE CART USED BY THE FLINTSTONES. I STILL NEED THOSE REAR SHOCKS, BUT I DOUBT I WILL GET THEM FROM BILL MARSH FORD, OR ANY OTHER FORD DEALER. I ALSO SUSPECT FURTHER DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE REAR SHOCKS AT SAME TIME. I CANNOT SUBSTANTIATE THAT AT THIS TIME.
