through this website i am requesting ford company to look into my complaint and replace this broken spring or complete strut assembly,
in recently oil change service at Canadian tire told me that right rear spring is broken
i searched online about recall for this model for spring broke cases.
i will try to contact ford Canada to help me .

I purchased this car for my teenage daughter and I guess looks are deceiving! The front springs had to be replaced four months ago; the water pump went out (always ask for a Pressure test on the coolant system if buying a used vehicle!); the wiper motor died; and now BOTH rear springs broke in addition to the stabilizer bar!!
Not a very wise choice in vehicles for a full-time college student - between tuition and vehicle repairs......... I'm broke!!

(FORD) Fix Or Repair Daily . The front spring broke on the left hand side Ford covered the cost of repairs Good for them it was a faulty spring of theirs. Then the sway bar broke in the back went to the garage to have it checked . The mechanic noticed the right back spring was broken and could be dangerous if it comes off. Went to Ford they said that was my problem because it was a back spring not the front ones. So it is up to me to pay for their faulty spring. Now I have a chirping noise coming from the engine . What's up with the Ford Taurus .The car has only 126,000kms about 75,000 miles .Cliff E. Quebec Canada Question: Is this the car owners fault or FORD.

This makes the third broken spring. recall covered one and I paid for the rest. Along with replacing the ball joints this has cost me way too much out of pocket. This has been a really nice car with lousy suspension

This I founfd out has been a problem with this vehicle for a long time. Ford should do the right thing a recall these vehicles and fix the problems that are in the suspension. Built very cheaply and there is more problems with this vehicle as I will be adding.

I have 2 of these fine machine's that ford had a better idea.Both bought new in 2002. The problems with these car's just keep adding up. A safety issue for anyone driving one. both springs just broke no warning just fine one day and broke the next.
At least Toyota is fixing the mess they made.Ford just keeps getting by with murder. until a family get's killed from these cars. The costomer will pay the price. Cars not worth selling to someone else. I will keep them until I buy New and I will not buy another ford. I will have the car's crushed at our local steel mill for the safety for other's. Mandatory recall to fix this is the only solution. At Ford expense. Plus cost of any tires caused by this.

This was a program car I purchased in 2002. Car has been cheap to operate and until this problem virtually trouble free. Wife drives car to work and she heard loud noise coming from the rear of the car. When I left my house to go check it out I found and piece of the broken spring in the driveway. Had car towed to repair shop and the tow truck driver informed me there was a recall on springs on this year of Taurus. Called Ford and only the front springs are covered. After investigating I discovered numerous complaints regarding the rear springs. Why is Ford not recognizing this problem and making their loyal customers aware of the problem and either fixing it or reimbursing us for a very pricey repair? Calling Ford today to get front springs replaced. Thanks Mr. Tow Truck Driver!

If you own a Taurus please be proactive and have your springs checked on a regular basis. This can be a very dangerous situation do to the tire damage the rear coil causes when it breaks. You may not even notice it is broken until further damage has occurred. I am very disappointed in Ford for failing to provide assistance in counter acting this issue. Yes, paying to repair this problem including new tires for most of us is not a positive, but I am just thankful it did not cause an injury to my family or others on the road when it happened. Ford-you know this is an issue. Stand up to your Responsibilities !

I own a 2001 Ford Taurus which I purchased brand new. It has less than 70,000 miles and the springs completely rotted out. The service station advised me that I shouldn't even drive the car home because the spring could puncture the tire. It cost $850 to replace the springs and the struts. Ford recalled the front but not the back. This is a safety issue and Ford should recall the back as well as the front springs. I will NEVER buy another Ford.

Right rear spring broke and blew out my tire on the freeway...could have been very dangerous. The mechanic said he's seen the same thing 30-40 times in the last few years on the Taurus. $975 to replace both rear springs with a quick strut, and to replace the tire.

Ford products suck! I was stupid enough to buy 2 Ford vehicles. I own a 2001 Ford Taurus and a 2001 Ford escape. On the Taurus the front spring broke in March of 2009, which blew out the front tire. t The tires were purchased in Feb. of 2009. Ford fixed the springs on an extended warranty, but wont pay for the tire. Now the rear spring breaks blowing out that tire. Ford dealer says replace 2 rear springs at a price of 280.00 approx.plus towing. Ford again refuses to pay for the tire. Between these 2 vehicles and all the recalls my family is now afraid to drive these cars. I think maybe all the ford owners should band together, and bring a class action lawsuit against Ford. I am getting a quote on it today have had more problems with this car then any car in my history of owning a car. I inherited this car from my mother who no longer drives. I have had problems with all seals, gaskets, heater core, front springs, now the rear springs are broken (Ford should be liable for this also, as they are the front) 2 sets of brakes and tires within the last 8 years.

Ford - What the hell? Did Ford just try a different metal in these springs? How about sticking with the basics, you know the ones that have worked in the past and haven't broken! American automakers wonder why American People buy Japanese vehicles...well I'll tell you.

I was told by two shops that the broken spring is a major problem not only with the Taurus but also the Impala and one of the Dodge brands. The little 3 need to go out of business. This will be my last American car!!!!!!!!!!!! One shop didn't want to lower the car stating that it might cause the spring to reload and take the tire out and or hurt somebody. I am really upset with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't screw around and had both rear strut assemblies replaced. This report to you is only the beginning. Thanks for any of your efforts to have these vehicles recalled and get this problem resolved. I hate to think what would of happened if the spring did take out the right rear tire on the expressway at high speed.

This model vehicle is notorious for the strut/spring assemblies breaking and puncturing the side of the tires. They are also very thinly manufactured on the springs which is causing the springs to break and causing the clanging, rattling and annoying noises. This model vehicle has this problem with both the front and rear strut/spring assemblies and you are best to replace them with the quick strut assemblies as they are one piece and you don't need to worry about compressing the springs this way.

Car seemed to be fine however it failed state inspection! Failed due to BOTH rear springs being broken!! The car is only 6 years old and only has 61,000 miles on it.... I have never had broken springs on any car. With so many complaints I can not believe this quality issue has not been recalled. Quality #1...I think not.

Car would not pass inspection from broken springs in back. Back spring was 1/2" away from slicing tire and causing accident. Had to replace springs and struts together. This, and the transmission problems with the Taurus are common.

Failed inspection due to broken rear springs. I have no idea how long they have been broken as I very infrequently drive this car. It's my daughter's and she is away at college most of the year. I'll start it up every couple weeks and drive it around the block. I did NOT notice any clunking noise or vibrations although I seldom drive it on the highway.

rear coil springs both rusted broken, fixed that aftermarket heavy ones 1/3 larger 2 inch more rear lift .... front end sub frame like a piece of sheet metal should of been 3 times as heavy a metal rusted through ,a arms rusted almost through rest of frame poor steel rusted badly should have recall and mfg replacement of a arms sub frame certified mechanic worked for Chevrolet this is pretty poor quality stuff
