I'm not a mechanic. But, I have a starter go out before. Usually there is some grinding noises or something. I went out to my car and went to start it up.... NOTHING!!! I thought it was the battery because the starter didn't even try to do anything. But, the lights worked fine, the radio worked... Regardless, I got a buddy to give me a jump. Still nothing. Not even a trying to crank. I tried changing out relays and checked fuses.. NOTHING!! I've been reading online about late 90's early 2000's Taurus having different issues. Some it was the security system, so I tried resetting it... NOTHING!! Some it was the S wire on the starter being bad, I tried bypassing.... NOTHING!!! I've read about the Park neutral switch going out, so I made sure that was responding... Still no cranking. Any other suggestions? I was wondering if it was something recalled, but I read the listed recalls on the Ford site, NOTHING about a starting issue.

I already told you about the heat not blowing anything but cold/luke warm air, but this is a whole new ball game...I bought the car from BILLION Auto in eastern Iowa on Monday b/c my old Hyundai Accent GL was pretty much on its last legs...the only thing that worked well on it was THE HEATER, but this problem is a major malfunction...

I went out to start it and Lo and Behold, it would not start. I had lights front and back, inside and dash lights (so the battery was not the problem). I had a friend who has a dealership in my town come down with a charger and it wouldn't start for as I said, not the battery's problem. It just wouldn't turn over and there was no clicking as would be found with an alternator problem. So from the process of elimination we decided it is the starter, but not sure if it's the whole starter or just the solenoid. So the dealership has had the car since Thursday, 12/18/14, and I have the loaner, and let me tell you that puts out a heckuva lot of heat. It was so hot in that car with 5 people in it that we had to open the windows.
