Have driven a 2003 Ford Taurus - new never wrecked. Had a car wreck - head on collision and air bag did not deploy. The passenger side did deploy but had no passenger. Car was totaled but kept pictures of this. Never received any recall notice so I don't think that was the problem.

I was recently involved in a front end collision. I was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus SE. I was driving on the freeway doing about 55 mph. A chain reaction of accidents started and I was unable to stop in time to avoid rear ending the car in front of me. Approximate speed at the time of impact was 50 mph. The entire front driver side of the car was destroyed. The problem is the passenger air bag deployed. There was no one sitting in the passenger seat. The driver side did not deploy. I hit the steering wheel hard. The car has been totaled. The chp office, body shop manager, and the insurance adjuster have all said the air bag should have deployed. I was not seriously injured, I.e. nothing was broken, and therefore didn''t seek any medical attention. Short of bruising, soreness, and a couple of scrapes I was fine. I contact Ford about the issue and they gave me the run around and spouted out a bunch of legal banter. I informed them that I was not interested in seeking litigation, I simply wanted a tech to inform me of why my air bag did not deploy, when it most defiantly should have. They again and again gave me the run around, only giving me the padded answers I am sure their legal department advises them to. Feeling as though I will get nowhere with Ford and not knowing hat the ''next step'' is, I am contacting your organization. I have pictures of the accident and can give you more information as requested.

My vehicle was involved in a traffic accident..the front of mine rear ended another auto..the force was sufficient to cause the passenger side front airbag to deploy but the drivers bag fail to deploy...is this a normal occurrence where one bag will deploy but not the other..if the driver of my vehicle had not been wearing the seat belt she could have sustained possible serious injuries.

2003 Ford Taurus has problems with transmission, engine backfiring, hood latch is broken, and seat bracket fell off. The tires were continuously going flat. Six flats occurred while the consumer was on a trip, the transmission was slipping and would jerk in traffic, the engine would back fire intermittently and stalled on one occasion, the seat bracket was replaced by the dealer but failed again (the seat bracket was incorrectly installed from the start), the engine also displayed knocking and had taken about 9 visits before the problem was corrected, it was discovered that a valve was sticking out. The A/C did not cool, the consumer smelled coolant which leaked inside the vehicle. The tires and rims were a problem and the vehicle had been in for repairs about 18 visits/two rear tires remained a problem due to severe inflation problems and the tires would need to be inflated several times daily. The consumer requested another vehicle. The gas mileage was poor. Tire loosing air pressure from the time of purchase. The consumer was involved in an accident on 2-25-06 and the air bags failed to deploy. Updated 03/29/06.
