- replace ignition coils (2 reports)
2 out of the 6 ignition coils were not firing. The car just started running rough and the check engine light came on. When I had the codes read it came back as the ignition coil was bad. I replaced the coil, wires, and plugs. This is something that normally goes bad in a car with between 125,000 and 150,000 miles or even more. Again no reason this problem occurred at such low mileage.

I have a 2004 Ford Taurus Station Wagon. Right around 111,000 miles the car started acting up. I would press the gas and you could tell there was significantly heavy miss. (Misfire). I replaced all the spark plugs and wires and the problem was still there. So I took a spark plug tester and found out that the problem was with the 3rd cylinder. It was barely firing. So the next step was to replace the coil board. After I replaced the coil board it ran like new. Just tryin to help anyone that runs into a problem like this because I spent two weeks trying to figure out what was wrong
