On my way to work I noticed there was steam coming from the right side of the hood. I pulled over to check the matter out and found out the car was spewing antifreeze all over the place. A friend who works on his own cars came to help me. He immediately noted that a hole about 1/8- 3/16th of an inch in diameter had rusted through the intake manifold on the top side, right near where Ford stamped the part number of the Intake Manifold. He said the hole was likely because I didn't regularly flush my coolant and because Ford uses a cheap pot-aluminum metal that wears out easily. (I flush my coolant whenever my mechanic recommends it, about every 12500 miles according to my records, but have no idea if it was done by the owner before me.)

My friend tapped a a screw into the hole so that I could nurse it to my regular mechanic. The mechanic said he'd never seen a hole rust in an intake manifold in that particular location and thankfully found a used intake maifold to replace it for $90. Labor and new gaskets and all the other good stuff was $450.

had to replace all three converters since they are one piece that was 800 just for parts changed intake manifold which melted and missed up three other sensors when the catalytic converter got hot it was next to ac line it blow that out and let the freon out total cost 3000 dollars which is a lot considering the car is not worth a lot more. never again will i buy ford ford me once shame on you ford me twice shame on me .

My Intake Manifold melted, I got it replaced only to have it melt again not even a day after I got the car out of the shop. The mechanic informed me I would need to also replace the Catalytic Converter telling me that was the original problem. Why he didn't tell me before I paid him $450.00 for the Intake Manifold, I don't know. He told me I would need a new Intake Manifold for another $450.00 and replace my Catalytic Converter for another $1000.00. My Ford is now over 100,000 miles and out of warranty. I'm angry that I was not informed this is a problem with Fords Taurus. I don't have $2000.00 waiting to be spent. I've never had this many problems with a car before, not even old cars.

Mechanics don't seem to know how to fix the problem as I've just replaced the first one that melted not even a week ago. I'm out $450.00, they want to replace this one for another $450.00, plus replace the Taurus' Catalytic Converter for another $1000.00. Are you kidding me here?

this was joined with Catalytic converters going bad so it was awful no help from ford mileage was just out of the warranty estimates for total work so high it is incredible this is what i get for buying for and regularly maintaining my cars service
