air bag light, revs high, chugs while driving
The car start out at 3k rpms. It eventually slows down. The car chugs on driving constantly while slowing down, stopping or starting out in reverse and drive. A real danger because it will jump 3 feet at a time. Foot need always be on brake. This has been an ongoing complaint since August. Every time it was driven, and it still is. I cannot, however, sit here and fill one of these out each day. The cost has been $450 till now. Not even close to being fixed.

Car revs high on start. Put in reverse it jumps back on its own. Need foot on brake for safety. Same on front drive. Chugs, chugs, chugs. Air bag light came on. Already had service at 2 garages. Also ford dealership. No engine light, no code. Trial and error has gotten very expensive. $450.00 so far and no results.

Seems like the throttle gets stuck because the RPM's rev up slowly on their own, even if I take my foot off the pedal and put it in park. If I stomp the accelerator, it seems to clear it up so I haven't had it looked at yet.

Every problem known to the Taurus has happened to me in one week. This could have killed someone. I'll spare you another explanation and get to a solution. I replaced the throttle positions sensor. Took the mass air flow sensor and idle air control out and cleaned them with MAF cleaner. Sprayed the throttle cable with grease and Stomped on the gas pedal a bunch of times. I was able to drive home. Not sure what fixed it long enough to get home but when I left home to go to the store my transmission would barely shift or stay in gear. I hope all the fat cats at Ford are happy. I borrowed money from my father for this car. I sold my other car to make payments because work is slow right now. I don't have anything! I have no options. Sell the car to someone who can fix it, and pay the other two grand back to Pops on a car that isn't even mine anymore. How am I supposed to get to work? Ford is doing this to people everyday. I'm a grown man wanting to cry right now. I am....for lack of a better term, f*cked.

Acceleration continues even when I remove my foot from the accelerator. Meanwhile the cruise control does not work, though the cruise control light comes on.

I have been in automotive and electronics for 30+ years. I suspect from problem it is a ground/power issue. I will be investigating and post conclusion when reached.

The gas filter and plugs were ready to be changed. I don't know if the other things were necessary. the car ran well afterward but the repair lasted only one day. Another garage found a loose air hose and a broken cable tip for the cruise control. After they were fixed the car was o.k. for 40,000 km. now it has happened again. the mass air filter was cleaned again and cables sprayed, and car was o.k. for one week. (250 km). now it is bad again tho not as bad as before. The safety rule I follow is to shift into neutral. The car will rev up to 4,000rpm. sometimes it then hits a reve limiter device and slows down, Sometimes I blip the throttle and slow it down. It's not too bad once you are used to it. The worst scenario is in a tight line of traffic where you are following another car closely. The brakes are strong enough o overcome it, but i never tried slow it to zero. After stomping on the brakes i shift into neutral etc.

The car will accelerater on its own when your foot is not on the accelerator and the curise is not on. When placing the car in park the RPM will go up to 4000 place back in drive and there is a loud thud from the engine. Feels like the breaks go directly to the floor and literally causes the breaks to burn up. I have gone threw a new set of pads in a month due to this issue.

i took my car to an auto shop here in town because the car had been accelerating on its own and the cruise control would work. the auto shop said that the induction system needed to be cleaned out and that should fix the problem. it didn't about a week after it came out of the shop it started again.

I can't believe Ford has had no recalls for this problem?
