  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,387 miles

this is the 4th ford vehicle i've owned, and i didn't listen to family members any time i've had a ford, but maybe this time i should had. i was warned that the transmission would let go on me, but i know how much they hate fords. To be honest it pissed me off, i live in ny in the snow belt and the one thing u have to own is a vehicle that is good in the snow, we this car is. BUT, THE DAMN THING SHOULD HAD GIVEN ME SOME KIND OF WARNING THAT 2ND GEAR WAS GOING TO SH*T TO BED. i'm driving down the road i feel a surge, like i pushed on the gas suddenly, so i don't think anything about it, which come to think about it....this damn car had been to the dealership 3 or 4 times when it was still under warranty, (they couldn't find anything wrong) i pull into my driveway, shut off the car, run into my house, run out, back out of my drive way start up the road, and the rpms go up but the speed stays the same. So i slow down, pay special attention, to find that it won't shift into 2nd gear, so i turn around go home and call a tow truck to come get it. Then i call into work to say i' not returning cause i just blow 2nd gear out of my car. THE ONLY WARNING I HAD WAS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY CAR. NO LIGHTS, NO SLIPPING, NO LEAKING, NOT A F..KEN THING. I THINK FORD SHOULD MAKE IT RIGHT. AFTER ALL I WENT BACK TO FORD AFTER OWNING A OLDSMOBILE AND A DODGE DAKOTA. FORD SHOULD DO SOMETHING, THERE HAS TO BE A PROBLEM. THIS MANY COMPLAINTS ON A 3 YEAR OLD AUTO IS A PROBLEM. Hell, i've owned a 79 ford fairmount 4 cyc.- drove it til there was no driving to it 240, 000, 84 thunderbird v6 drove it til the engine gave up 200,000, 87 ford ranger that i sold after listening to my family telling me the frame was rusted so i sold it at 101,497 (oh it's still on the road, the frame wasn't rusted) and now this i just hit 100,000 miles and i'm wishing i had never bought it. Now i'm gonna have to take out a loan to fix it, I STILL HAVE 2 DAMN YEARS OF PAYMENTS LEFT ON IT. ford should do something!!!!!!!

  • Automatic transmission
  • 79,000 miles

My wife was on her way to work and the car was driving fine, she was coming to a light that was red but the light turned green so she braked a little and then applied gas as she was making a right turn but the car didn't move. The only thing the car did was roar when she applied the gas. The car seemed to be stuck in neutral. She turns the car off and then turns it back on and puts it in gear but nothing happens when she puts it drive or reverse, it only rolls back like its in neutral. So she's pissed off because not only does the car break down on her it breaks down on her at the intersection to her job on a busy highway. So she leaves the car on the side of the road for me to check out when I get off work.june the 11th made a year that I've had this car(with 70000 miles). I checked the oil and transmission fluid to see if any are low but they are fine. So I check to see if any fuses under the hood are blowed but everything is fine. So I leave the car at her job so it can be towed the next day cause I'm tired of f*cking with the sh*t! I call the dealership to see if it has any warranty and they tell me that warranty runs out at 30000 miles or 3 years whichever comes first. So they tell me to bring the car by so they can take a look at it to see what the problem is but if it costs me too much to get it fixed I'm going to tell them they can take the car and push the bitch off the bridge 'cause I REALLY dont give a F*CK! The money that I use to get the car fixed I can use that money to put down on a brand new vehicle But whatever it is, it wont be a Ford vehicle because from the complaints I see up here Ford is full of bullshit!

Ya after reading all the reports here i see i have the same problem. I was driving along, just had exited the freeway and hum went to go through light and nothing, just like you slipped the gear in neutral and nothing, i was stuck in the busiest intersection of town. People flipping me off, honking, swearing at me. WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL. i called Ford and they said did you take it to a ford dealership? i said why the heck would i? its already going to cost me nearly $2000 to fix why would i have them soak me for another $1000. URGH!!! i have owned many of a car and never ever would have this problem with the transmission at such low miles. I have talked with other people, they say if there is enough of us that have this same problem with this car that we should file a class action suite. i told Ford this and all she could say was ugh ugh ugh. Transmission failed with out warning just like others have posted on here. Very disappointed with the reputation of the trans with this vehicle. No remedy from ford. No warranty to help with the costs. Replacing with a new ford transmission ($3000) with a 5 year/100,000 mi warranty. Why didn't the original have this type of warranty on it. Perhaps ford knows the problems and won't stand behind this poorly made product. I've been buying fords for 15 years and this is the second ford I've owned with transmission failures. Hope my new Dodge can out perform fords poor workmanship. I will sell this Taurus first chance I get so I don't get screwed again.

  • Automatic transmission
  • 54,000 miles

Was driving on Michigan Ave. in Dearborn right outside Ford HQ when the transmission failed at 54000 miles. Was about to push the car in Ford HQ lobby when I had a change of heart and took it to a nearby garage.

The car was running fine with no problems up until this point. I was making a right turn, applied gas and I noticed there was no power going to the wheels, the transmission fell apart quickly over 3-4 seconds. It then seemed to be stuck in neutral and it made a whirling noise when I applied gas.

Fix cost $1550 to rebuild the torque converter (I believe thats what they fixed) + $100 towing + $175 car rental.

It took the garage 1 day to investigate the problem after that I got another quote at a local Ford dealership for $1600. Decided to keep it at the garage and it took another 2 days (+2 days over weekend, 5 days total broken to drivable) to fix. Hopefully this can help someone else that experienced the same problem.

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,818 miles

I was on my way to Nashville for my sister's college graduation. I was using the cruise control and going through a hilly area just outside of Augusta, GA. As I was going down one of the hills, my speed started decreasing. I figured I had accidentally hit the brake, so I hit the gas. The RPM's jumped up to 5,000. So, just to make sure, I turned the cruise control off and hit the gas. Still went up to 5,000 RPM. Well, I pulled over and realized that the transmission was shot. I had only bought the car a year ago.

The transmission company told me the problem was a stripped out torque converter which in turn messed up the pistons and other mechanisms internally. Thankfully he's being nice to me with the price of rebuilding the transmission for only $1400 including a 24 month, 24,000 mile warranty.

Otherwise, I'm going to be seeking litigation on the people who sold me the car, if that's possible. I'd rather them buy back the car so that I don't have any other major troubles. It only has 60,818 miles on a two year old car. And I only put on about 13,000 miles in the past year. I can't logically figure out a way that this could have happened other than the dealership taking advantage of me and knowingly selling me a crappy car...

Taurus SEL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

I bought a 2005 Ford Taurus SEL in June of 2005. This month the transmission went out at only 55,000 miles. When I bought the car, it had 18,500 miles on it. I was dumb enough to pay a small fortune for their "extended warranty" (which covers NOTHING!)

The dealership said that if I never had the car "serviced" at around 30,000 miles (at an auto repair shop or their dealership)then the warranty wouldn't cover anything. So, I was supposed to take it in to get "serviced" after only putting 11,500 miles on it!? AND if I didn't, then this transmission problem is all MY fault! Ford doesn't take any responsibility for making and selling me a piece of junk! I knew when I took this car into their shop, they were going to do anything possible to get out of paying for the repair and making sure it wasn't covered under the warranty.

Ford must be selling disposable cars now.

I will NEVER buy another Ford vehicle. Now I see why people buy foreign cars.

Taurus SE 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,963 miles

I submitted a report a week ago about the transmission going out on my 2005 Ford Taurus (45,963 miles warranty over due to high miles). Dealership refused to admit transmission was a manufacture defect and told me it would cost $2,990 to repair. Dealership (Courtesy Ford, Danville, IL) did not do a good job in assessing the problem, charged me $75.00 for inspection and $62.50 to tow car 13 miles and quoted me a repair price of $2,990.

I had the car towed from dealership on 11/04/07 and taken to a transmission shop and was told that it was the torque converter blinds that were stripped and that it would not cost thousands of dollars to repair. The problem was fixed for $911.44 and I am driving the car.

I called the Ford of Detroit to request financial assistance with this matter and stated to them that the car was service at a Ford dealership (Crown Ford, Hoopeston, IL) for the 30,000 miles (12/27/07) maintenance and was told everything checkout fine and the transmission did not need to be service. My car sat for 6 days at Courtesy Ford while I continue to try and get a resolution from Ford of Detroit. Which I must say was a waste of time.

Finally I got tired of being jerked around and had the repairs made. Will I buy a Ford or deal with a Ford dealer in the future? "Not in this life time">

Taurus SE 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,963 miles

I have a 2005 Taurus 3.0L V6 that I purchased July 28, 2005. It has approximately 45,963 HIGHWAY miles. Because I commute 35 miles one way to work 5 days a week the mileage racked up pretty fast and I do not have extended warranty.

On Saturday, October 27, 2007 I was on my way to Hoopeston, IL and the dam car turned the corner and refused to go any further. I thought "What the heck!". The car ran fine and no warning lights or anything else came up letting me know there was a problem.

Since I was closer to Hoopeston than Danville, I flagged someone down and got a ride to the Ford Dealership in Hoopeston and told them what happen and asked if they could tow it in. The service manager told me I needed to take it to the Ford dealer I purchased it from and they should work with me on getting it repaired without me having to come out of pocket. I called the dealership in Danville and after telling them what happen and asked if they could tow it in. Of course their first question was is it under warranty.

To make a long story short, I received a called from Ford in Danville telling me that their is a part in the transmission that is internal that went out and it probably went out at 30,000 miles (which mean the car was still under warranty). I said, "manufacture defect", they said "but you don't have any warranty" and I repeated that if the part failed at 30,000 miles the car was still under warranty. I was told there was nothing they could do and that I need to let them know if I want them to repair it.

I placed a called to the 1-800 Ford Customer Service number and the asked that I provide proof to Courtsey Ford (Danville)that the car had it maintenance service at 30,000. On 10/30/07 I took the proof to Courtsey Ford and told them the car was serviced at Crown Ford on 12/27/06 for the 30,000 miles maintenance and Courtsey said, "this does not prove that they service the transmission, only that they change the oil". I told them they could call Crown Ford and verify that that is what the appointment was for as well as the oil change. I was told that I should have brought the car back to Courtsey Ford for the maintenance service and they would have service the transmission at 30,000 miles (keep in mind warranty was still on the car at this time) and charged me $500.00. I said, "you mean to tell me that if I had the 30,000 miles maintenance service here you would have charged me $500.00 for a car that was still under warranty; and he said yes.

Courtsey Ford in Danville, Illinois is a rip off, all they care about is selling cars and to hell with the customer afterwards. I don't expect Ford Customer service to do anything about this, although they are suppose to get back with me on Thursday, November 1, 2007.

This was my second ford, the first one I brought in Hoopeston,Illinois where they treat you like a human being before and after. After this incident I will never buy another Ford.

Prior to the transmission problem I also had a faulty fuel switch after that was replaced earlier this year after complaining about the amount of gas it was consuming. The car is a lemon and they know it is a lemon.

Taurus SE 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,200 miles

Ok, after having a 2005 Ford Taurus for LESS THAN TWO YEARS, the transmission decides to randomly fail on me. No warning signs, no prior problems, NOTHING.

While about 30 miles away from home, late in the day when most places are already closed, my car decides to just stop driving. I turn it off, wait, turn it back on ... nothing. Engine runs great ... but it won't kick into gear. Luckily Neutral worked so I could roll it out of the way. I HAD to get my car off the road, and the only place open at that time was an Aamco station, which conveniently was about a stone's throw up the road.

Aamco came and towed my car to their shop for me for free and did a free diagnostic. ... Only to tell me, and I quote, "for lack of a technical term, it's utterly f*cked up." Yup. That's EXACTLY what the mechanic told me. He needs to rebuild my transmission. ... at a cost of $2,651.30 ... plus tax!!

Not to mention that Aamco has also had my car for a WEEK now and is still waiting on a part. I need my car for work, and I don't get paid for not being there. So .. even MORE money out of my pocket.

I call Ford, and all I get from them is an "I'm sorry" and a "We'll report the case." Yeah. Great. How about some help with this bill that shouldn't exist at all on a car that's this new?!

I'm done with Ford. I'm done with ALL American cars at this point. This is truly and outrage. And I can't believe that Ford won't even do anything about it.

  • Automatic transmission
  • 47,500 miles

With just 5,500 miles the damn car had a "sticky" gas pedal. That turned out to be a defective throttle body.

Now with 47,500 miles, when driving on the freeway at speeds over 45 mph, it will suddenly "bump", or feel like someone has just hit your rear end, and also there is a loss of power at times as well.

Ford dealership says it gonna need a new transmission. It's gonna cost $2800! I told him that was absurd, and he offered to call Ford and ask if they would give any financial "assistance". After 2 hours of waiting, he comes back and told me that it will now only cost me $900! I told him to get back on the phone and finish negotiating with Ford. They are still $900 off my "settlement" price.

This sounds like a scam to me. If Ford is willing to "help" with the repair, they obviously know of a larger problem with the transmission.

FORD SUCKS.
