This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
The car has less than 100000 miles. The transmission has been serviced, the fluid is pink and not burnt. The over all car has been well maintained. Everywhere I inquire about the Taurus, the mechanics say it's not if the transmission will fail, it's more about when it will fail. Piece of sh*t, bad design, lowest quality unit on the market. For all the people that have paid their hard earned money to fix this problem, Ford should issue a recall on the trans, fix all the problems and return every one's money.. Thank you. M Shrieves

Just getting in line with the rest of the Ford Taurus owners whose piece of SH*T transmission failed. Like many others mine just quit pulling while driving down the road. Had my 82 year old father in law in the car on a very hot day in Texas when it went out. Great timing. Luckily had some nice Texans that let him hang out in their air conditioned house until the tow truck and our ride home arrived. I will never buy a ford car again. May consider a Ford truck, but Toyota are catching in the arena too.

AS WITH THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ, THERE I WAS JUST DRIVING TO WORK THEN BANG!! THE CAR IS SLOWING DOWN AND THE ENGINE IS RACING, THE TRANSMISSION JUST QUIT. THE ENGINE IS RUNNING BUT THE DAMN THING WON'T GO INTO GEAR, HOPEFULLY MY COMPLAINT IS THE ONE THAT BREAKS THE CAMEL'S BACK AND FORD GETS OFF THEIR SORRY DEAD ASS AND RECALLS THESE VEHICLES AND FIXES THE PROBLEM. THANK GOD I AM STILL UNDER WARRANTY OR THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AN EASY $1500 - $2500 PROBLEM THAT WOULD HAVE TO COME OUT OF MY ALREADY EMPTY POCKETS. GET YOUR SH*T TOGETHER FORD AND GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED!!!

The electronic harness fried and along with it my transmission. This is the second Ford Taurus I have owned. Even with regular flushes from a transmission shop, the transmissions on Ford Taurus' seem to fail around 100K. Very disappointing.

Had 100,000 mile transmission service performed and 23 days later the car would NOT move into any gear!
Had a high whining noise, no engine lights ever came on. My car was running very well prior to the service and I was getting 28-29 MPG on the highway when fully loaded with camping gear.
I think they need a recall on this problem and hope that Ford will act accordingly!!

Coming off the interstate and out of no where my Tachometer raised to 5,000RPM and vehicle slowing down. Also heard a whining noise whenever the engine was running. No Check Engine lights, or any other warnings the transmission just stopped transmitting power. Found out the the entire transmission was rebuilt and new torque converter was replaced as well. What happens is that the splines on the torque converter and the input shaft strip each other out and metal ends up circulating inside of the valve body and through the fluid. Ford needs to recognize that there is a major defect in their designs and help out us that have been having to put up with this unavoidable issue with all Taurus' and Mercury Sable designed vehicle. There needs to be a suit brought up against Ford for their mistake.

So driving down my street and I start to coast to the stop sign, and the only gear it would go into was Park. My engine still starts and runs but will not go into any gear. My car was running just fine, in fact I just had a tune up on it the weekend before, now this is really going to set us back. Thanks a lot FORD!!!

Okay, I wish I would've knew this earlier! NO WARNING!!!????? No check engine light or anything!!!!!???? My '07 Taurus is running just fine. Like a champ, in fact. Except it won't go into ANY GEAR BUT PARK!!!! Just bought this car. It had 68k miles on it. I've only put a couple thousand miles on it since purchasing it. This is my first car and absolutely the LAST Ford I will ever buy. This is ridiculous. Now I'm out about $1500.

The dealer advised me it was a rare problem but from your pages it is clear many people have had the same problem. Driving, suddely you loose movement. It is the first time in 30 years that I owned a Ford (I previously drove Hondas to 180,000 miles without problems). It was a mistake to buy one as obviously the quality is not there.
Calling customer service is a waste of time. It would be nice if someone organized a class action.

This happened while parking. called the shop and brought it in. The shop had the car for 2 weeks replaced the transmission twice; the cost to us was $860. Drove the car and started jumping, took it to Auto zone to run a test because of the Engine light on beeping off and on. The code P0715 indicates a fault in the Turbine/input Shaft speed sensor electrical circuit for a predetermined period of time.
