Ford... Found On Roadside Dead... definitely describes this car. Transmission was slipping. Turned out the torque converter blew - and seems is typical of these cars.
Last American car... had bad luck with several GM products, Chrysler products, and now this with Ford. My Nissan hasn't had a problem yet.

Car slips coming out of first gear. If I stop all the way at an intersection it happens almost every time, especially with a hard stop. If I slowly come to the intersection it is fine...as long as I don't stop!

I have had this car for 3 years. My mother-in-law bought it new and took very good care of it. Last year I spent over $2500 on repairs and now the transmission is going. I took it in to be checked because the "check transmission" light was on. I was just told it would cost $4500 to have it rebuilt or $2500 to have a used transmission with 7500 miles on it put in. I am reading reviews about these transmissions going at or before 100,000 miles, so I am not sure it would be worth it. Sounds to me like this is a defect in the transmission on this vehicle and Ford should step up to the plate and make it right. My father use to say FORD stands for Fix Or Repair Daily. I should have listened to him.
