We bought the car used and have been very satisfied with it. However the lights are really weak/poor. Bright lights are more like they are on dim and when you click on dim it's like a shadow appears over the light. We took it back after 3 days and they checked lights. Then we thought maybe the bulbs were just old and needed to be changed. But, after changing the bulbs for the brightest we could buy they are still no better. Don't know how exactly to explain but night driving is dangerous with the lights at this level. Will be returning to dealer to see if they will fix them. We have the extended warranty so we'll see what happens.

The headlights seem to be shielded in that the field of light is not only dim but controlled. For example, on a level road, with the low beams on, the area illuminated extends maybe 10 degrees to the left and right but only about 5 feet high. Above 5 feet is complete darkness and the boundary between light and no light is a straight horizontal line. So, when traveling uphill or downhill, it is possible that sections of roadway may be placed into darkness; a very dangerous condition. Add to this the existance of deer as in our area and the consequences can be deadly.

I bought a new Ford Taurus in March. It has the worst headlights of any auto on the face of the earth. I tried higher output bulbs. HID kit, adjusted the elevation up, all with the same results -- poor visibility. High beam or low, it makes no difference. I read that an eye lid affair covers a portion of the lens when low beam is switched on ... that's half assed. I believe there really is no help for the stock Taurus lights. The SHO has factory HID lights.they cost $550 per side. I'm taking my complaint to my dealer next. they need to hear this.as far as the issue it self goes, if Ford won't fix it , I can be very creative.

2011 Ford Taurus Headlights do not shine far enough down the road they look like there is a line blocking the top half of the light preventing it from showing down the road. You might as as well drive without any lights. I have heard one other complaint so far on the same subject. Very dangerous if you cant see whats ahead of you like curves in the road, deer crossing the road, or a person crossing the road anything. When you are looking out the car window you see the lights go out so far then there is a black line where they stop showing.
It is crazy never saw anything like it.

Ford Taurus headlights are going cause people major accident kill me or anyone driving my car. Almost went in ditch. Wall of black with lights and set low and can't see far. No side visibility. Made turn couldn't see people til car straightened and almost upon them. But what I understand multiple complaints I'm not only one. Ford needs recall before too many people get hurt or killed. No one takes accountability when talk to Ford and Corp office. Cost me $1823 still not right. No side vision, dull, wall of black, short front visibility.
