Taurus Limited V6

Last week I noticed the fake chrome peeling away from the plastic trim around the taillights. I purchased the 2012 Taurus new, and after only one and one-half years, the trim should not be deteriorated to the point that it's peeling off. I took my Taurus to Al Packer Ford in Nottingham Maryland where I purchased it. Service Manager

stated he wasn't surprised as he had already replaced same on some Taurus's and is wouldn't be a problem. That is until he looked at the odometer and saw I was 1,700 miles over the 36,000 mile warranty. He forwarded the claim to Ford, who refused to replace the trim free of charge, but offered to pay for half!! Maryland has had a bad winter, and examining the exterior of the car has not been a priority. I just happened to open the trunk and saw the defective trim. I've complained to Ford, stating that no matter what the mileage was, the exterior should not be coming apart in only one and one-half years. I've always had Fords, and presently own two, the Taurus and an F-350 Super Duty. However, it looks like I will be looking for another brand of vehicles, especially ones that stand behind their product. After paying $30,000.00 for this car, the least Ford can do is admit that the parts are

defective and make good on it. I also have had conversations with their consumer complaint division. It seems that it doesn't matter if the a part is apparently defective, if you're a day over 36 months or a mile over 36,000, you are out of luck.
