The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle loss power steering assist and became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15V340000 (steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

In 2015 Ford recalled the electric power assist system for steering on the 2011-2013 Ford Taurus. I currently have a 2013 Taurus that is not coming up with the recall but is having this issue. It is very unsafe as the steering wheel sticks and does not turn properly.

Steering wheel shakes are getting worse every month. While driving, steering wheel sticks during turning and gets stuck. Straightening the wheel after a turn is hard to complete. Have to pull steering wheel hard to get out straightened. These issues happen both while driving slow and higher speed.

Power steering assist failure the same as what is described in recall 15S18 ( NHTSA campaign number: 15V34000 ) but cars made after a certain date are not covered by that recall, even when the exact same issue is happening. The recall needs to be extended to later models for the same issue.

The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics for inspection. The contact was informed that the rock and pinion and power steering gearbox failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

The vehicle started to lose powersteering while driving down the road, its really hard to steer the vehicle almost got in accident. The power steering now gives a message saying its faulty, I have took it to Ford dealer because ive found forms online showing there has been recalls on the powersteering. Ford denid that there is recalls on the electric powersteering system.

The contact stated that while their spouse was driving at approximately 65 mph, the steering wheel failed to turn and loss all power steering assist without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the electrical power steering assist gear needed to be replaced. The contact contacted sioux city Ford located at (3601 singing hills blvd, sioux city, ia 51106) and was informed of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Power steering in my vehicle went out in my vehicle while driving on the freeway. I did a bunch of research on 2013 Ford Taurus and discovered there was a recall issued by the manufacturer tuer but my VIN was not covered. I read in several forums that this is happening to hundreds of other with the same make and model, all typically happening in the 80K -100K mileage. Several attempts were made by myself and the dealer to doing the repair to get assistance and I was just given the run around over and over, every person I spoke to had a different answer or information. The dealer never received a response from the manufacturer, so I paid the $3100 in full. I confirmed with the dealer this was the exact part that needed to be replaced in recall 15V340000 that my vehicle was not covered under. I strongly believe they missed a large section of VIN's that were affected and we are having to pay to replace the parts or our vehicles are just left un able to drive.

Vehicle keeps slipping and making clunking noises when going down the highway. I didn't have this issue until a month ago and it seems to be getting worse. The guy at belle tire said the rack is a common issue with Ford Taurus'. trying to keep away from bump and turns but I have a lot when driving in grand rapids. I've almost hit cars because it randomly pulls me in one direction. Vehicle is only moving when it happens and happens both on the highway and when I'm going in reverse with the wheel turned all the way in one direction.

Steering becomes difficult while driving the vehicle in cold weather. Vehicle was allowed to warm up for approximately 10 minutes before being driven on city streets as well as highway. All forms of turning the wheel (either turning onto a different street in the city or a lane change on the highway) were difficult to do due to a lack of assistance from the electronic steering assist system.

On 12/11 at 2:30pm power steering failed without warning 5 minutes after starting and turning right onto johnnie dodds (city street). Warning message appeared indicating power steering failure. Drove several miles, parked and shut off car. Restarted about 10 minutes later and no problems since. Have driven about 35 miles with no problems. Concerned for safety of sudden steering failures in future. Ford service advisor at jones Ford indicated that they probably wouldn't find anything wrong since they can't recreate the problem.

The power steering system will suddenly go out without warning. The dash shows a power steering fault code. To clear the issue, the vehicle has to be put into park, ignition turned off and back on. Tends to happen most often when it is hot outside (not sure why) and typically at lower speeds. This has been occurring for months and I have not seen a recall on my particular VIN although there are reports of the same make/model having the issue.

The contact stated that the power steering assist fault warning indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but they were unable to diagnose the vehicle. The mechanic discovered NHTSA campaign number: 15V340000 (steering), which he associated with the failure. The vehicle was towed to gosch Ford temecula (26895 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591, (951) 708-9148) and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle has been repaired. Consumer stated while driving on a highway went through a stop light, was not able to turn the wheel and had locked up.

2013 Taurus w/ 82,000 mi -in my driveway, I turned on car, got the power steering assist light, and no steering control - doesn't turn either way. There is a recall for this problem on the 2013 Taurus, but not on my VIN. I called Ford 1-866-436-7332, was given a case number and told to hold on to repair receipts in the case a new recall is issued and my VIN is included. I'm not very hopeful I will ever get reimbursed. I haven't repaired it yet, but will have to since I need my car. I'm terrified of the cost to repair.
