problem #1

Jul 122017

Taurus LTD 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,868 miles

In July of 2017 the left rear toe link snapped off resulting in the vehicle jerking violently into the oncoming traffic lane and then swerving all over the road until I managed to bring it under control limping it to the nearest approach. I was on highway 13 and was fortunate that there was no oncoming traffic. Had I been on a busier highway the incident would have surely resulted in a collision with oncoming traffic. Had I not been paying full attention to my driving and not had both hands on the steering wheel the vehicle probably would have rolled. I experienced some neck and shoulder pain after the incident due to the forceful handling required to keep the vehicle from rolling.

Damages resulted in a $1010.22 invoice from the dealer. Toe link was replaced (obviously) plus the brake lining and rear rotors needed replacing which required a wheel alignment. Also required a new tire.

FORD has had a recall on some of their Explorers and F150s for this exact issue but they have refused to hear my concerns on my Taurus problem. I had the toe link on other side break in 2018 but will report this in a new complaint.
