Taurus X Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 145,000 miles

Bought an 08 Taurus X Limited for 1500$ In May 2021... I started to do a tube up on it due to the gas mileage being 15.2 mpg 😑 and a ride trip ahead of us. So far I’ve changed the OSS, and TSS (as well as a flush, oil change and air filter). Now it’s not wanting to go into anything except reverse! Help man help!! I’ve been researching and YouTubing. I have 5 days til I need to be 500 miles at an appointment y'all.

Update from Oct 13, 2021: Figured out the specs were not set correctly when the sensors were changed . 😑. adjusted those, reset the PCM , and then the the TCM . And I followed the correct specs for that as well ( which had me looking stupid af on the interstate js)

Not all the issues are ‘fixed’ tho . This Issue is an intermittent problem. From my research I’ve found that the PCM needs to be reflashed . Apparently they were not correctly set and are missing a few specs 😑 and changing parts like this out, only confuses the computer (and all of us) more .

Do you see a history here? ….. specs for this , specs for that , missing specs….

Had it been done right the first time - the specs wouldn’t be so off and running it’s coarse .

I’ll try to keep this update yall

Oh there are class action lawsuits and recalls for a lot of vehicles. Ford Taurus X is not on them but every vehicle that interchanges with them is . And other vehicles with the same drivetrain made by the same 2 company’s are . And the issues on the reports are the same —— I contacted the law firm of a class action lawsuit to make them aware . I gave them info and alll. Waiting to hear back . Y’all please go check em . Maybe if we all get together and bring Taurus X issues to light , we too will finally have the answer to WTF FORD ?!?! 😑 thanks y’all

Taurus X V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 134,949 miles

The car was bought from my family and was great driving and I had no issues at all until last week. I went to town, shut it off, went inside, got my kid, walked back out and not even 5 minutes later got in, started it up and headed home. That's when it happened. Stopped at the stop sign went to take off and gave it gas it took a sec to catch up the odometer went blank the speedometer stopped the engine light came on then another and another and another since it was late at night I had nobody to call and had to drive it home slowly due to the speedometer not working and not knowing what was happening. Got her home and shut it off and was so upset I cried myself to sleep.

I had the transmission go out on a previous used car and I got the feeling that's what was happening. With the other car there were signs, there was trouble but not the x. Went to start it the next morning to show my boyfriend and it sounded like the engine dropped out when I tried putting it in reverse so I immediately shut her down and she has sat since. Getting quoted $6 grand for a new tranny and I'm heartbroken.

I can't afford that and may be out of my beloved Taurus x period. FORD NEEDS TO MAKE THIS S** RIGHT! I COULD SEE IF IT WASN'T EVERY ONE OF THE TAURUS X MADE BY THEM BUT THIS IS F UP. NO WARNING SIGNS, NOTHING - JUST BAM. YOU’RE OUT A CAR JUST LIKE THAT.

Taurus X Eddie Bower V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 156,000 miles

Started with the speedometer showing zero mph, then the transmission started slipping badly. Checked the fluid and all was well. Let the car cool off for a while and the issue disappeared, but when I first restarted after the cooling down period, it slammed into gear. Sounded like the engine had just fell out of the car.

I did some research into the issue and found that the fluid pump spline rod which comes out of the transmission into the torque converter wears out the corresponding spline assembly inside the torque converter causing the spline gear to slip, resulting in the fluid pump inside of the transmission to stop pumping and the transmission to stop functioning. Every so often the pump would turn generating some fluid pressure causing the jerking reactions we have all felt.

I understand that the two metals should never be the exact same hardness, this would cause a total failure of one of the two joining surfaces, but to make the two metals in this case this soft is not fair to the consumer. It is a failure from the beginning. The wasted force from the pump causing the issue with the excessive wear on the torque converter splines could have been remedied by a pressure bypass valve inside of the transmission to relieve the excess feedback pressure and extending the life of the transmission. The Ford TaurusX has been a wonderful vehicle, Great to drive and handles well in all situations. I love this car. So I will get the torque converter and fluid pump replaced and go one from here.

FORD collaborated with GMC to build this transmission, and GMC has fixed their version, why has FORD not stepped up to the plate and fixed theirs?

FORD DO THE RIGHT THING.

Taurus X SEL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 161,000 miles

I am very baffled as to why Ford has not stepped up to fix this issue. I am sitting here reading about everyone's problems and how they are very much the same; but yet the company has not stepped up to say "we'll take care of this". These are not normal wear and tear issues. These are big, serious, life threatening problems.

I was merging onto the highway, when my vehicle would not accelerate! Do they understand this????? The HIGHWAY people. 55- 65 miles an hour in some places; even higher in others. Is it going to take for some to be killed before you step up and do something. I don't have the funds, nor do I want to have another car payment. Which it is looking like I will have to do. We should be able to send Ford our mechanic bills, or sue them for all the money we have put into these Transmission issues. Who can force them to step up about these dangerous issues????? Why is there no recall???? MY CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY!!!!!!!!!!. Ford you need to do something. Somebody contact me please. I had my kids in the car. This is very serious. What can we do?

Taurus X SEL 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 139,814 miles

I am an older woman that needs a car she can depend on. I was coming from the hospital at night when i started having transmission problems. I drove on home but can't afford to have this problem fixed, since I only live off of my SS income. I don't know where to start or how I am going to get this problem fixed. I am very disappointed with the transmission, but other than that I love the car.

Taurus X V6

I had this car for 3 months and it started acting up dealer said it was the condenser. Still acting up slamming into second or not shifting out of first. Totally random and will not throw a code...so dealer says he can't fix ...even though I bought the extended warranty. It's a joke...totally unsafe car and I'm really afraid for my wife and kids as it will also accelerate and or slam into gear suddenly not safe at all.
