Dear sirs;
My thunderbird is currently parked at a Ford dealers lot gathering snow, rain dirt and grim. the situation is as follows... The dealer, Tower Ford in Great Neck New York has informed me that the Front Electrical Module is burnt out, making the car a metal ''[monument''. Ford has informed me that the independent electronic firm that produced the module is out of business and Ford has no inventory of this part. The Ford part # is 1W6Z14B205AA
So, here is my story in a nut shell. I have spent many hours on the internet finding that I am not the only victim Thunderbird owner. Some owners are visiting salvage yards searching for a 10 year old electronic part from wrecked T-Birds and even Lincoln LS vehicles with the same engine. Of course, Ford tells me don't take that road as it is a questionable path.
Ford Customer Service has created a case Number concerning my metal ''monument'' CAS 4088451 Y2B3K6. Both the Tower Ford Service manager, a Mr. Richard Lee and the Ford Customer Service person informed me that a new electrical jobber has to be found and only at that time could this ''obsolete'' part be then produced.
In closing, Ford also informed me that it could take 7 months or 7 years to happen.
What do I do now? Of course, the value of my pride and joy id a big fat 0.
Sincerely.

I have spent many hours as well on the internet finding that I am not the only victim /owner with this problem. I have found that visiting salvage yards and searching for a 10 year old electronic part from wrecked T-Birds and even Lincoln LS vehicles with the same engine is a waste of time. I have no dash lights, no headlights, no power window control, and definitely no convertible top control.
Ford tells me that the original vendor is out of business and it might be 2017 before a replacement electrical vendor is sourced for this now obsolete part. It seems ridiculous that owners should have to wait so long on a maybe the part will again be available.
Ford Customer Service has no solution and continues to check the US in hopes of finding another dealer with stock for this part.
I have found 2 companies that are confident that they can rebuild the unit. I will try them out and comment back.
