First of all, I must apoligize for my English, as I am French speaking, and I had also to convert from miles to kilometers, and from euros to USD.
In January 2011, I bought from a private owner, a Hymer Camper model CL622, on a Ford Transit 2,2 L TDCI. The Mileage was about 15,500 miles. The vehicle is from July 2007. This vehicle was well maintained, and last service is dated April 9, 2015 (mileage 23,400 miles), Having paid the garage service (about 960 USD), we thought that we were in a position to enjoy our camper and spent some weeks in Southern France. Only after 200 KM (125 miles), halfway up a hill, the engine slowed down and raced violently, giving lot of smoke behind. .
We were trailed to next Ford garage in Epernay, who made a diagnose, one cylinder had no compression. They could not repair immediately, so the vehicle was returned to our Ford representative (the one that made last maintenance).
On internet, I could see that a lot of users had encountered same problems on this engine, specially the ones from years 2007 to 2010, broken engines at mileages between 20000 to 50000 Kilometers (12500 to 35000 miles). Many people talk of inherent or hidden defect, that has nothing to do with the usual warranty applied to most vehicles. It is obvious that a diesel engine is supposed to reach much higher mileages.

I formally asked Ford Motor Company to pay for this repair, as many other unhappy users did before me. Of course Ford Motor denied any responsibility in that matter. I have contacted the Centre Européen des Consommateurs, as well as an expert, to help find a solution to this unpleasant situation.
If anybody experienced such bad experience with Ford Transit 2.2 diesel engine, I should appreciated his comments. My email is leon.lannois@gmail.com
Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Leon
