Vehicle goes into "limp" mode while on highway losing the ability to control the acceleration. The van has to coast to a stop, turn off the engine, then restart. The throttle body was replaced twice (3/2/21 and 11/21/22). This causes a major safety risk for the driver, passenger and all other drivers on the road. Losing control of the vehicle mechanically without warning and in such a sporadic fashion is unacceptable at this age and mileage. 170,245 miles & 219,118 miles.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side shoulder. The low engine mode message was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump failed, which caused fuel, metal, and debris to enter through the fuel lines. The fuel filters were replaced but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 169,000.

While on a road trip with my 6 kids, I had a brake issue with my 2016 Ford Transit. The first time it happened, I was driving about 55 mph, hit the brakes and the engine revved & accelerated. I pumped the brakes, engine stopped revving. Honestly thought I did something wrong. Same thing happened again two days later. I stopped and cleaned the sensors hoping that would resolve the issue. The next day the same thing happened making it hard to stop. I went straight to Ford and had two Ford dealerships tell me the vehicle was fine. Brakes were checked and was told no problems. I asked if it could be a leak in brake booster and was told no. No lights were coming on. I took the van to Les Schwab and was told the same thing. Unsure what to do, my brother came to the rescue and took the van. He started driving it home to California from Colorado. I rented an RV and continued our road trip. 80 miles later, the engine on the van made a loud bang and ceased. No engine lights. My brother said the engine started having acceleration problems so he stopped and checked all of the fluids. Everything was fine and engine was not overheated. But, complete engine failure at 79,000 miles. This was July. Since then, we paid to have a new engine installed. My husband flew out to pick up the van and new engine started having problems. He had to fly back home. Ford has said that the new engine is bad so they are paying for rental car and getting another new engine installed. Still do not have van. It's been three months. My concern is something else is going on...just seems extremely strange. I am still worried about the braking and revving bit and wonder if anyone else has had a similar issue.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit. While driving 65 mph, the contact began to smell a burning odor and felt that the speaker and cd that she ejected from the radio were warm. Also, when the defroster was activated, steam began to accumulate on the windows. As the contact continued to drive, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact pulled over and allowed the vehicle to cool off. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The contact took the vehicle to autofair Ford (1475 S willow St, manchester, nh 03103, 603-634-1001) where it was discovered that water was accumulating on the air filter. The contact stated that water was also dripping onto the blower motor heater, which caused an electrical short. The dealer replaced the blower motor and installed a water deflection kit. They also replaced the air filter and the air filter box cover. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and stated that the vehicle was not under warranty and there was no recall. The manufacturer offered no further assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 86,000.

We purchased 14 Ford Transit vans from the U.S. four of the 14 are not in driving condition now due to a problem losing speed [more details for each vehicle are needed]. the fault in all of them shows code P2111. The vins are: [xxx] broken in Jan/Feb 2017 with less than 4500km; [xxx] broken in March 2017 with less than 5200km ; [xxx] broken in August 2017 with less than 3000km ; [xxx] broken in November 2017 with less than 4600km. At this rate, we expect that our entire fleet of large vans which are Ford Transits to be inoperable. We have received the service from one of local Transit dealers [xxx], but it seemed the problem is not included in "recall notice" from Ford. We would greatly appreciate all assistance in repairing or replacing these vehicles as soon as possible. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The vehicle will stop accepting accelerator commands randomly. It will refuse to accelerate when the accelerator is depressed. There have been 4 of these vehicles in our fleet do this. Ford is aware of the problem but refuses to do anything about it to accommodate the drivers even going so far as to state it could be weeks before even diagnosing the problem. This is to cover the fact hat they have the throttle bodies needed to repair this complaint on backorder. If on a freeway this is a dangerous failure that would compromise the safety of all on board. The vehicle was in motion at the time of the failure on a city street.

When driving down the freeway the dash dinged and said engine fault service now. The vehicle lost acceleration and had to coast to the shoulder while vehicles were going around him. Ford says this is a safety feature when a part goes bad so the engine doesn't get damaged. The throttle body had to be replaced. It is very dangerous for the vehicle to lose all acceleration when driving on the freeway with no warning. This should not happen.
