problem #1

Transit 250 3.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,000 miles

ITS A PAIN IN MY ASS ANYTIME I HAVE TO PULL MY PRIMARY WORK TRUCK OFF THE ROAD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD ABOUT THE DRIVESHAFT COUPLING AND HAD THE PIECE OF PLASTIC CRAP REPLACED. THEN I WAS TOLD THIS IS A TEMPORARY REPAIR AND I WILL HAVE TO COME BACK WHEN FORD HAD A PERMANENT SOLUTION. AFTER READING WHAT HAPPENED TO OWNERS THAT HAD THE COUPLING FAIL WHY COULDN'T REPLACE THE COUPLING WITH A STEEL UV JOINT INSTEAD OF A PLASTIC CORRUGATED FLEX COUPLING ON A 9000 GVW VAN THAT WOULD MAKE SENSE. THE FORD TRANSIT IS A SHINING EXAMPLE OF EUROTRASH UNDER-OVER ENGINEERING.

Update from Aug 23, 2019: Update, 56,750 miles, I took my van to the dealer for worn front brakes ( this is my first front brake service impressed the lasted almost 34000 miles usually 25k is all I get for all my inner city stop and go driving) The rear axle has been grinding and vibrating for the last 3000 or so miles. had a shop check, lots of metal in the differential and chewed up gears) Usually brakes are a 1 day deal, NOT WITH THIS VAN. I asked them to check the rear axle when I dropped the van off, well I get a call from the service advisor telling me the driveshaft coupling I had replaced at 31k miles is wore out and has damaged the driveshaft and they have to order the parts. When I asked him when I might get my van back I COULD NOT GET A DEFINATE TIME MY FREAKING VAN WOULD BY FIXED!!! UNLIKE ALL THE ACCOUNTANTS OUT THERE WHO BUY TRUCKS TO HAUL AIR AND WASTE GAS I ACTUALLY EARN A LIVING WITH MY VAN AND TRUCKS THEY CAN'T BE SITTING A LOT FOR 3-6 WEEKS AT A TIME WAITING FOR REPAIRS. THIS P.O.S. TRANSIT HAD ALREADY BEEN OUT OF SERVICE 54 DAYS IN THE SINCE LAST SEPTEMBER. I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET RID OF THE ROLLING TURD THAT I STILL OWE $13 GRAND ON. I just want the crapwanon fixed in a reasonable amount of time. I'm tired of muving tools from truck to truck. IF ONLY THIS FORD COULD BE AS DEPENDABLE AS MY BEAT UP 2006 6 CYLINDER CHEVY SILVERADO WITH 180K MILES HAS BEEN THE IN THE 6 YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT. FORD IS A ACRONYM FOR FIX OR REPAIR DAILEY. I WILL UPDATE AGAIN WHAN I GET MY VAN BACK HOPEFULLY BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR.
