The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated that cracks had formed in both taillights which lead to water accumulation inside the taillight housing. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that moisture had leaked into the taillight wiring harness and both taillight sensors and sensor harnesses need to be replaced. In addition, the taillight wiring had begun to hang from the rear of the vehicle, causing the exhaust pipe to melt the wiring harness. The dealer informed the contact that the taillight sensor could not be repaired due to the part being on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated while an employee was driving 55 MPH, the vehicle decelerated unintendedly. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated on July 14, 2023, while the same employee was driving the vehicle and was releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle started losing motive power and slowed unintendedly. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The employee continued driving to the independent mechanic and was informed that the brake rotors, brake pads, and the front driver-??s side and the rear passenger-??s side calipers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the mechanic then stated that the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) pump was faulty. Upon investigation, the mechanic associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V482000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) pump to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

My Passenger Seat Occupancy Sensor failed. Caused my airbag system to throw a code and become inoperative and SRS light on. Took to Middleton Ford in Middleton, WI and they confirmed the code indicated the OCS sensor has failed and required replacing to make the airbag system operable again. Meaning if I got into an accident, no airbags would deploy while the defective OCS sensor is in place. My insurance refused to inspect or cover the sensor as the failure wasn't related to an accident. Middleton Ford refused to cover the replacement cost regardless of cause of failure and said I must pay for the repair as my van was out of warranty. The sensor was replaced on 08/22/22 and see attached pics to prove the sensor had no visual issues and the cause of said failure is a manufacturer defect. Consumers should never have to pay for a defective part that failed due to no fault of their own.

My SRS system has thrown the SRS light with code B00C0:11AB Passenger Occupancy sensor A short to ground. According to The weight pad is faulty and requires a $989 part replacement. The SRS system is disabled with the light on which is a safety issue in today's vehicles as none of the airbags will deploy in an accident with the SRS light currently on. No consumer related malfunction detected meaning there were no broken wires found nor evidence of a consumer triggered fault found such as wet or previously wet pad which could have caused the fault. It is an internal part failure.

After battery replacement, the power steering (the EPAS system) failed. The dashboard-gauges display said, "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED." After towing and diagnosis, my mechanic said the system had to be reprogramed at a dealership. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

1. stationary or in motion: The top of the front windshield seems to be losing its seal because when water is poured or when it rains, it enters the car and falls onto the dashboard. Also, the plastic box that stores the rear view window and which is attached to the windshield gets filled with rain and drips down the window. 2. in motion, on a gradual hill and up: From day one, the car would not shift up on a downhill, even a slight hill. It revs in the 2nd gear and rev until it would jump into third after revving in a lower gear for 2-4 minutes. I took it to 2 dealerships (one in Tacoma, wa, and the other in marina Ford) and they said they couldn't repeat the problem even though I had plenty of video of it. 3. stationary or in motion: Lcd screen sometimes stops responding for no particular reason. You have to turn car off and on again to get a response.

While driving the vehicle in reverse, the driver's air bag deployed for no reason. The diver was slightly injured. The vehicle's maintenance history was looked at. This vehicle was never implicated in an accident. The Ford dealer found that the electrical wiring for this airbag was corroded. This would be the reason why the airbag deployed. This electrical wire should be better protected. The dealer refused to repair it under warranty because it is not valid anymore.

While pulling out of a fast food drive through steering jerked to center and I lost power steering to the point where I could barely keep control of the vehicle, mechanic informed me the powering steering motor seemed overheated because of its location and I could expect this to happen again, on the dash I got a "steering fault" code. Second issue unrelated is that the temp sensor keeps malfunctioning, once the senor reaches below the freezing point on the dash ( keep in mind its 74F outside) the vehicle shuts down the air conditioning unit blowing hot air until the whole system resets and the dash reads the actual exterior temp. New Ford temp sensor installed worked fine for two weeks then same issue. Its frustrating when we reach 80+ degrees and the air conditioning is intermittent because of a senor issue which is totally unrelated to the unit itself. Two other friends of mine own the same year vehicle and are having the same issues. Love my Ford but they should own up to they're problems.

Just got this vehicle, was purchased as used but with warranty still as it only had 16500 miles. After driving for few weeks I had the following problems. #1 fuel economy on vehicle is 15 miles per gallon (on a 4 cylinder engine?). previously taken to dealer where they replaced a recall part (throttle body) as it was doing only 13 miles to the gallon. Dealer states that is working normal"??" #2 after driving for 4 hours or more (city or highway) hot air comes out of air vents even when outside temp is 40 degrees fe.( and temp is set to low on cluster). 20 degrees deference is not ok (maybe in winter but not in summer). Dealer was able to replicate the problem and call Ford engineers, to which they said that it is normal. Dealer was able to replicate the same issue on 3 similar vehicles but still Ford states that it is normal"?" hot air coming out of vents at 70 degrees when it is 55 degrees outside is not normal.

I own a 2016 Ford Transit connect with tow package assembled in valencia, spain. There is a recall 17S34 issued by Ford on Oct. 25, 2017 regarding Ford transit vehicles assembled in Kansas City equipped with tow modules. The issue is water entering the electrical system thru the tow moduel and shorting out the system. My vehicle is currently in the shop because the ignition has come apart and it is going to cost me more that $800 to fix. My problems started about two weeks age the radio went out along with the backup camera and screen, I checked the fuses seemed fine put them back all ok. A day later vehicle began to make a lot of noise coming from the dash board this time the battery went dead, I charged the battery, checked the fuses, the battery still kept going dead. Every time I turned the vehicle off the battery went dead after 3 or 4 times of this the ignition stoped working all together. I then had the vehicle towed to my local dealership where they put in a new battery and ran a diagnostic check to find out the ignition had come apart and had to be replaced at a cost of $800. I am concerned that water is getting into my electrical system and I am going to have more problems in the future if this tow modules isn't fixed. The Ford recall states: Water intrusion into the module may result in rapid flashing of turn signals, loss of instrument cluster display, loss of heat and air conditioning controls, and loss of multimedia including radio, screens and sync. Wiring corrosion from prolonged water intrusion could also result in an electrical short to the ground, which could cause seat belt pretensioner deployment, a burning smell and/or increased risk of fire, including when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off. I feel strongly that my vehicle is experiencing many of the same issues in this recall and should possible be included in the recall 17S34
