Unbelievable and dangerous. I own a 2019 Ford Transit Connect XLT 2.0 with only 24,000 miles on it – barely broken in for a 6-year-old vehicle. Out of nowhere, the ABS unit and hydraulic pump failed, which caused the brakes to lock up. The result? The rotor, caliper, and brake pads got so hot they literally caught fire.
This isn’t just a mechanical issue – it’s a major safety hazard, especially if this happens at highway speeds. Thankfully I wasn’t seriously hurt, but it could have ended much worse. A brake system failure like this on a vehicle with such low mileage is inexcusable.
And I’m not the only one. After some digging, I’ve seen multiple reports of similar failures on this model. Ford needs to own up to this recurring defect before someone gets killed.
This should absolutely trigger a recall. If you’re driving one of these vans, keep a close eye on your brake system – and good luck if your ABS pump decides to die while you’re doing 65 mph.
