Transit Connect XL 2.0L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

This makes the second time in 4 months that we've gotten a canister purge valve or EGR valve error code. What makes this so difficult to isolate is that when one searches online for a "purge valve" you get several different options for the Transit Connect. It's very hard to figure out which one of these things we actually need to replace. According to Ford the 2.0L gets either a "T" shaped valve located in the engine bay or a "box" shaped device located near the gas tank. Others I've spoke with who've had this same issue say that the Dealership was selling the mass hose valve setup knowing customers did not need it. I in fact purchase one of these hoses only to find I didn't need it and was hit with a restocking fee as well as the shipping cost to send this hose back to the dealership. this time around, I've got a print out of what the error code is and the device the paperwork claims we need and taking all of this info to our independent shop so they can figure out what part is really needed.
