Transit Connect XL 2.0L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,000 miles

After hearing about the windshield recall, we attempted to have our windshield replaced because the glass was actually cracked. The dealership told us because of the recall, they would only reseat the glass and not replace it. We've had to hire Safelite to replace and repair the windshield. We paid our insurance deductible ($250.00) and was charged $445.00 was charged to the insurance company. However, the 1st Safelite purchased the wrong glass and we had to wait 2 more weeks to have the glass replaced. Locating another Safelite, we've just had the windshield replaced with a better and more tinted glass. If you're glass needs to be replaced, be prepared to wait 2-4 weeks as there is a glass shortage.

windshield recall

After learning about the Ford Transit Connect Windshield recall, we reported to our dealership that our windshield needs to be replaced because of chips and now a large crack. Ford (the dealership) all they would do is re-seat the current windshield even if it has a crack. This is unacceptable. So now we're having to have Safelite repair the cracked/damaged windshield because the Dealership would not. We've attempted to take the van to three different dealerships only to be told the same thing... They will not replace the windshield under the recall notice. Safelite and our insurance will cover the windshield, but we'll have to pay $250.00 as we've not reached our deductible and the windshield will be replaced by Safelite this Friday the 12th. The only drawback here, is that Ford will not remove the windshield recall form our vehicle even if we have the windshield replaced & repaired someone else.

Lastly, According to Ford/dealership they will not reimburse our deductible once Safelite repairs the damage. The dealership is and always has been giving us the run around. Thus we'll never go to another dealership ever again.
