Had vehicle in for service recalls. Recalls met the requirements to replace the subframe assy; however, it was repaired instead. Contacted Ford about my concern over how it was being fixed and was told that the dealer was given info. On how to do the repair and if there was any problem after it was fixed, I would have to take it up with the dealer because it would be a warranty issue with them, that Ford would not help me. Now after picking up the vehicle, the A/C no longer works. - it blew cold air before they got it.

I have a 2000 Ford Windstar that I have had since it was purchased new. Today while driving down the highway, I heard a loud pop. The van started to feel funny in the rear, almost like I had a flat tire. I pulled off the road and upon inspecting the rear wheel, noticed it was leaning in at the top. I looked at the rear axle and it had snapped in half. Needless to say, this was inspected in January for this very same recall. My family was with me and could have been injured or killed because of this.

Ford Windstar recall 11S16 I contacted Ford headquarters regaurding the front recall on 4/18/2011 I spoke with a woman named [xxx] documented case # [xxx] when I asked about the front recall parts when they were going to be available she told me nobody knew anything about them. Then I asked her I was calling Ford cause I thought they were the one to call cause they were manufacturing them. I was shockingly informed they werent manufacturing them and didnt know who was or where they were coming from. I even asked her if they were going to fall out of the sky then? (she laughed) she told me to call my dealership. Which I have asked my dealership 3 times now and got 3 different answers. But I did leave a message for the service manager to call me. My concern is if Ford headquarters isnt manufacturing the parts for there vechiles how safe are these parts and have they been tested" who is suppose to be manufacturing these parts do you know? are these orignal factory parts? because the back braces they put on my Windstar are not factory parts. So is the front parts going to be the same kinda of fix? are these fixes Ford is providing safe and been tested since they are not factory parts and will they last" this is my #1 concern. Can you you please give me some answers thank- you for your attention to this matter. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. The dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that the sub frame did not exhibit any signs of the failure listed in the recall. The vehicle was released to the contact and the contact was advised that the vehicle was safe to drive although a crack was discovered on a stress point of the frame. The dealer stated that the crack found on the contacts frame was not included in the recall. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was informed that they would have to take the dealers word and would not provide any further assistance. The contact was concerned with the safety of driving the vehicle with the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 94,540.

We recently had our 2000 Ford Windstar into the dealer for a subframe recall. The dealer found a crack in the passenger side subframe mount but stated it was under 3mm so it was not considered unsafe. They deemed it safe to drive and put me back on the road in it, my children's lives are at risk, they refuse to buy it back or give me a loaner and stated I had to wait until he parts come in to fix it. Please help us Ford is screwing over all of us, I have three children and I am so scared to drive it!!!

2000 Ford Windstar rear axle and front sub-frame failure: Ford dealer has had my van for 7 months now since September 1, 2010. I just received another recall notice this week about potential front sub-frame failure. Dealer says my van failed front end inspection but is repairable and must now wait for those parts also. Ford has been great with rental car and treated us fairly. However, I have lost total confidence in the safety of this vehicle and do not want it back, even with repairs. Aside from sitting with the same fuel in it for 7 months now, it has obviously incurred weathering and wear on systems like tires, battery, oil, etc. I have also been paying insurance for a parked vehicle for 7 months. Of greater concern is the fact that this vehicle has completely lost all trade in value or resale potential. With only 80K miles, I had intended to keep this vehicle for many more years. It has always been garage kept and dealer maintained and the body is in great condition. Two weeks before the rear axle cracked, I had a Ford dealer complete $1,400 in front end maintenance - new suspension components, struts, bushings, etc. Bottom line is: I have lost total confidence in the safety of this vehicle, even with repairs; I have lost money on repairs just prior to the rear axle failure; I have paid for insurance for a car sitting in a lot for 7 months - so far; I have lost all trade in value: I have lost all resale value - nobody in their right mind would buy a Windstar now after all the media coverage; I cannot afford to replace it with a comparable vehicle at this time. I do not want this vehicle back! I urge you to consider the issues I have listed above as you continue your investigation. While some points above may be outside the scope of your investigation, Ford needs to understand the enormous impact of this situation on their customers. I am a Ford guy with 3 other Ford vehicles, including an antique. I am not happy and Ford needs to make this right. Thank you

Ford Windstar recall, front subframe lower control arm rear attaching flange and body mounts could separate from the subframe in high corrosion area. Ford claims restitution of vehicles considered unsafe to buy back vehicle at 150% of the kelley blue book private sale excellent rate. For my sel Windstar the private sale excellent rate is $4275. 150% of the value of my car is $6412.50. Ford is offering a non-negotiable buyback of $4253. Less than the kelly blue book value of my vehicle. Ford should honor the national traffic and motot vehicle Safety Act, title 49 U.S.C section 13120 claiming as such (premium offer of 150% of an average kelley blue book for model and trim level at private party, excellent condition and 12,000 miles per year. My vehicle is a 2000 Ford Windstar sel with only 125,000 miles, which is less than 12,000 per year. My complaint is that Ford is not honoring this nrmvs act and taking advantage of consumers.

My 2000 Ford Windstar did not pass safety recall 11S16 they called me to tell me it was grounded. Then they proceeded to tell me I cannot rent a vehicle because I don't have a credit card. Although I offered them my debit card which they said was not good enough. I live in N.H. where insurance is not required. So I do not have insurance but I am not required to since I'm over 21 years of age and have a good driving record. I also have lived at my address for 9 years with the same phone number. So it comes down to my car is unsafe to drive but if I want a car to get places I need to since, I'm handicapped also on a fixed income. They told me I would have to sign a waiver stating my car was unsafe to drive to get it back. They are putting me in a situation that I have no other choice but to drive my car. Or otherwise I have no car to get anywhere. They did not try to work with me at all regarding my safety driving Ford unsafe vehicle. Also I was called at the end of the day to tell me all this when I dropped my car off at 7:30 a.M. now it looks like im not going to be able to get to any doctor appointments or grocery stores etc. Etc. My life is on hold with Ford. :( this is a very disturbing situation they have put me in. Also I would like to ask why they are sending recall letters out before they even have the parts when they aren't going to help you with another vehicle in the meantime? just to let you know I will sign there stupid wavier cause they have given me no other choice!!! to make it perfectly clear not by my choice. So I pray god will be watching over me!! thank-you.

I was driving 55mph on dixie highway in groveland twp., mi. My mounting bracket that is a factory weld to the engine cradle broke away from the engine cradle and pulled my drive shaft out of the transmission. This is on a 2000 Ford Windstar. The weld broke due to corrosion from salt eating away the weld itself. My vehicle is undrivable, luckily no one was hurt. I had myself and my 3 children under the age of 7 in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Ford Motor Company is telling me that there is not a recall on my vehicle and that they will not pay to tow it to the dealership or to fix it. I am appalled by this. This is clearly a design defect and not my responsibility to fix. The detroit free press had an article on this very problem on December 23, 2010. It stated there have already been over 300 claims of my nature. The article stated this organization was investigating this matter. I ask for any help you can give me in getting Ford to fix my vehicle.
