We purchased a 2001 Ford Windstar 3.8 late this summer. Two months after we bought it there started a clunking in the dash when you turned the heat blower on. Then one day the heat stopped. The little motor that moves the blower vents broke. It was not fun to take the dash apart to replace it, and it was not clear on how to take it apart safely. He ended up breaking two of the retainer clips. Then my husband broke the radio when he accidentally turned it upside down.(Why I don't know) (Don't do that or you kill it!) We fixed the heater, now we have to replace the radio!

Windstar SE Sport 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,101 miles

I bought the vehicle from the original owner, because of the dual air conditioning. After having the vehicle for about two months started to hear a banging when moving the A/C - heating control slider. Dealership related that the problem was the Blend Door Motor Actuator and it would cost about $500 to fix. Contacted local parts house (NAPA) and bought the part. 3 hours later it was installed, no banging.... now I can't get any cold air from either the front or rear a/c!!! Does anyone have any ideas, the A/C compressor is cycling fine...
