The contact owns a 2001 Ford Windstar. The driver side air bag light randomly flashes on and off for 5-10 minutes. Afterwards, it stops flashing and remains illuminated. The contact discovered a recall online for the same failure and called the manufacturer. They stated that his VIN was not included in the recall, even though he was experiencing the same failure. The recall number was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000 and current mileage was 96,893.

Air bag light was on all the time. Light has been on for 7 days. Dealer said vehicle was not under warranty, and is offered no help. Dealer said the caller will have to pay for it. Manufacturer said same thing.

The air bag light on my 2001 Ford Windstar remained on indicating a problem with the air bag and safety restraint system. I took it to the Ford dealer and they did a diagnostic and discovered that there was a loose wire in the harness. They had to remove the left front seat console and air bag module to get at the loose wire. They reconnected it. This cost me $256.34 with tax. I did an internet search and found another person that seemed to have the same problem as I did. I wonder if this problem is common and a possible safety issue with all Ford Windstar?.
