we bought three years ago our 2002 ford windstar...i told my wife do not buy a ford..but she did and nothing but problems..we just refinanced the payments to lower them and not two months later right now..the transmission is gone, will drive but not reverse, i am very shocked to find thousands of cases on the internet with people having the same problem..my question is ...is anyone doing anything about it? is anyone pressing a law suit ? can email me ...i would love to hear if anyone has anything going against ford and why they are not honoring this huge problem with their cars...at least i will never ever again buy a ford

I have a 2002 Ford Windstar with ONLY 29,000 miles. Acting fine until one day when it wouldn't start. Had it towed to repair shop who decided it was in the transmission. Towed to the transmission place. Crossflow leakage in the transmission. Need a rebuilt one for $1900. Contacted Ford (next joke please). Out of warranty and the only way they would even consider a possible after warranty reimbursement would be if a dealership would look at it, agree that's what the problem was, and agree that was a fair estimate to get it replaced. Please! So I should have to: a) pay to have it towed to an incompetent dealership, b) wait for them to "squeeze me in" so they can jack it up and pick their noses while they look at it, and c) see if they agree that's a fair estimate for repair. After all that (I estimate at least a week on top of the week of already being without a vehicle) Ford will only then begin to consider some type of compensation. My guess is a big fat NO. The dealership has in the past screwed up a simple recall on the door frames of my husband's car, which caused the seat belts to lock up; I sincerely doubt I would trust them with a transmission. The only reason that a transmission would fail at 29,000 miles is if it was a piece of crap to begin with. But wait a minute, it's a Ford, so it must have been.
