During the summer of 2003 while driving one evening, the rear window of my 2002 Ford Windstar shattered (believing it to be caused by hooligans, the police were notified). The rear window was replaced by the dealer-recommended glass installers using the oem recommended parts. Approximately 18-months after replacement of the window, the vehicle was rear-ended necessitating replacement of the entire hatch. This replacement was made by the dealer. This evening (7/14/05), while the vehicle was parked in the garage, the rear window again shattered.

My wife entered the car through the driver door. After starting the car, she heard a loud "pop". then felt a cool breeze and noticed the rear window was mostly gone. A semicircle in the center of the window had blown out. The rear windshield wiper was hanging inside the van. The window had not been cracked or scratched and there was no ice on it. The temperature was around 45 degrees.
