Acadia 6-cyl

  • 55,308 miles
On 1/25/13 our 2007 GMC Acadia was towed to the show for what was described as a timing chain premature ware and was covered under a recall. The mileage on that date was 52,788. It is our understanding that the motor and transmission had to be removed. On May 18th 2013 I was driving and the car made a loud noise and decelerated down to 25 mph with a high RPM. At that point I pulled over. I noticed the car had no reverse. I brought the car to the local GM dealer. Today they called and said the transmission is shot. Current mileage 55,308. Waiting to hear back on exact issue. After reading online this is a know design flaw and has been since corrected. I should not have to pay for GM's design flaws. Also this is a major safety issue when your vehicle slows to a maximum of 25mph on a main road or highway.

1-heated washer removed, catalyst converter replaced, timing chain issue, fuel pump, head lights all replace due to defect and now @ 89,500 I have a major transmission issue a PO752 code has been noted and the car is 5.5 years old and believe this is a defect GMC is aware of and failed to fix, even sugggested by amaaco the tcm may even need replacing. Feel like this car has been one defect after another which led to other defects happening and premature wear and tear on other parts.

3 months past the 5 year 100K warranty with only 55000 miles on the car and both the water pump and transmission went out. GM paid for half of the costs still $1253.05 out of pocket when it should all have been covered. This is a consistent problem with the Acadia and GM knows it but refuses to step up. The day the transmission went out we almost got thrown through the windshield definitely a safety issue.

In the rain or during wet road conditions the serpentine belt gets wet due to it's location at the bottom of the engine compartment. When this occurs the belt starts to slip causing an intermittent squealing and intermittent lose of steering control.

I have had several problems with this vehicle. The washer fluid light is always on, no matter how many times I have taken it for repair the power steering went out 8 months after the vehicle three months later at this present time. After having the vehicle for not even a year, the transmission has given out beyond repair. I have gotten several different people to look at it, its beyond repair (rebuild). I have done a lot of research and found that many people have had the same problems I really hope this helps, I don't think the customers should be responsible for the repair of this constant problem.

Left front headlamp inoperative. Requires $1200. In repairs. Vehicle unable to be driven at night. This is the most recent issue. Since buying the vehicle new. We have had major engine failure. Transmission failure. Water leaks from moon roof. Which effected the emergency brake monitor system. Recalled washer system. The issue with the headlamp is a defect in design. Though there is a recall for non hid. The wiring on the hid systems is having the same issues. GM refused to repair the vehicle. Even though it a known defect. I am a master automotive technician and have been for 26 years. I will provide expert testimony along with the cause of defect. This is a safety concern from 2 aspects fire and safely driving the vehicle.

Acadia 6-cyl

  • 8,100 miles
My first 2007 AWD Acadia broke down after owning it for 20 minutes check engine light came on and it wouldn't move. Spent more time in the garage. When I got it back a week later it started to shut off while I was driving it but it only did it when I was stopped and made right turns on main roads. The car would shut off while driving but it would restart again. Got a replacement car had to pay 2,000 more for it and the replacement Acadia is doing the same thing. Its a death trap we could get killed pulling on a highway and the car shuts off and when they hook it up to diagnostic machine it says nothing shows up. It has been in for the software upgrades and a week later its shutting off again and has alot of hesitation. I have had it with GMC I just want my money back they lost my trust I should of stayed with my Jeep Liberty which was a great vehicle with no problems.
