Both daytime running lights have melted the bulb sockets and the bulb housing. The sockets have melted so bad that you cannot remove the bulb and the housing has melted so bad that the housing will no longer hold the bulb in place. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that you cannot turn the lights either on or off because the dial defaults to automatic which will use the daytime running lights automatically unless you physically turn them off each time you turn the car off. This set of circumstances causes a serious fire hazard! this issue needs to be resolved immediately. The photo without a bulb is the left daytime running light housing and the photo of the bulb goes in that housing. The photos with the bulb still in the housing are of the right running light. The housing is completely melted and a substance has melted out of the socket and into the housing. I fear that these circumstances with cause a first and jeopardize the safety of me, my wife and my children.

I was driving my GMC Acadia all of a sudden one of the headlights just turned off, then a few minutes after same thing happened to the other headlight. I have read that it has happen to a few and going to some electric issue.

Recently I noticed one of my daytime running lights was not working so when I scheduled my vehicle for service I asked the GM dealer to replace the light. Upon their investigation the dealer reported that the headlight wires had fused or melted together and that it would an estimated $800 to fix! they also mentioned the other lamp was starting to have the same issue and its only a matter of time. I was more concerned that the wires lamp/light wires were "fused" together and shorting out! this seams to be more of a safety issue with the risk of fire or loss of both headlights! furthermore, it is outrageous for a replacement of a daytime running light to be $800 dollars! can NHTSA please investigate and help resolve this safety hazard and poor product performance and look at the risk analysis that was performed?

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the daytime running lights were continuously burning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the bulb was overheating causing the housing to melt on both the passenger and driver side. As a result, the head light assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 45,600.

1-heated washer removed, catalyst converter replaced, timing chain issue, fuel pump, head lights all replace due to defect and now @ 89,500 I have a major transmission issue a PO752 code has been noted and the car is 5.5 years old and believe this is a defect GMC is aware of and failed to fix, even sugggested by amaaco the tcm may even need replacing. Feel like this car has been one defect after another which led to other defects happening and premature wear and tear on other parts.

No recall for defective transmissions? bought 2007 acadiar used, 2600 miles /felt transmission problems early on. Very noticeable jerk at 40mph. In and out of dealership since. Last few months car has been in to dealer frequently re car bucking at stop lights really rough thought engine going to die. Every time nothing showed in codes, emergency trip to doctor/heavy traffic main artery/can't get over 20mph/engine screaming/ make it to dr. (omg) towed to dealership. Transmission gone. I could have had a serious accident. Finally heard something about a wave plate. For 5 yrs I've said something wrong. No one said these were constant problems with Acadias. They issued recalls for a leak in the sun roof. No recall for defective transmissions" known defective wave plates" I have extended warranty, but many don't. warranty or not, this safety hazard should be fixed by GMC at their expense. A recall is mandated. Just ask the owners...

Low beam headlights go out. I've also taken the vehicle in many times for noise in the steering column. Eventually, I lose my power steering. Everytime, they tell me there is a leak or steering gear problem and it has been repaired but it continues to happen. Im taking it in for the 4th or 5th time now to repair the squeak in the steering. This vehicle is 5 years old and its been in the shop more than any other car that I have owned.

Left front headlamp inoperative. Requires $1200. In repairs. Vehicle unable to be driven at night. This is the most recent issue. Since buying the vehicle new. We have had major engine failure. Transmission failure. Water leaks from moon roof. Which effected the emergency brake monitor system. Recalled washer system. The issue with the headlamp is a defect in design. Though there is a recall for non hid. The wiring on the hid systems is having the same issues. GM refused to repair the vehicle. Even though it a known defect. I am a master automotive technician and have been for 26 years. I will provide expert testimony along with the cause of defect. This is a safety concern from 2 aspects fire and safely driving the vehicle.

My passenger side head light went out on my 2007 GMC Acadia. I took it to the dealer it is not under warranty any longer it has 45,000 miles on it. This will be the 3rd time I've needed my head lights to be replaced and they tell me that the harness is melted. From reading online I seem to not be the only one with this same issue. The dealer told me they will have to let me know how much it will cost to replace.

My driver side headlight bulb went out. I bought a replacement, but when I disassembled everything and got to the bulb, the connector was somewhat melted and one of the wires was pulled out. When I tried to remove the bulb, the connector cracked. Note that this was the original bulb.

Low beam wire harness melted with a risk of fire due to wrong wattage bulb according to GM dealership. Circuit protection was inadequate to prevent such a common failure mode. Harness has not yet been replaced.
