I took back to the dealer as I had just purchased my ACADIA 3 months prior. They kept it for a week and said the only problem was that the freon was low. They recharged the freon and said it was working 3 weeks later the AC went out again. I've had three mechanics look at it and have gotten different responses - the condenser needs to be replaced, the hi and low pressure valves need to be replaced, and the third is that there is a leak. I don't have money lying around to just throw at a "this could be the cause." This is absolutely ridiculous - now I drive an hour and a half to work and an hour and half from work with my 2 year old daughter. Grateful for the winter time but when summer comes through in GA I will be back at square one!

Acadia 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

I bought the car 3 years ago and have never had a working air conditioner for more that a week or so! Luckily the car had a warranty and could get it looked at for a small co-payment, but what a pain to have to bring it in and wait or them take it for a couple of days and have a loaner. They tested the lines and blowers, circuits and other components, but could never find the cause for the loss of gas or failing part.

I brought it in again in July of 18', they looked at it and then said I was over mileage on the warranty, but thinks it might be the condenser. They said they would have to rip the dash out to look at it and then nothing more, because the warranty was up and I wasn't paying $90 an hour for them to investigate. So never had it fixed.

When you're traveling on a 96 degree day with 5 kids and the air decides not to work it's a HUGH PROBLEM. I can find posts online from people who are experiencing the same problem but no one knows how to correct this issue. We were on our way home from a day trip when the ac decided not to work!!!! All of a sudden no warning the fan motor sounded like it was running but no matter what the blower speed was set at the cool air just trickled out of the vent. Rear ac was blowing great but then that air eventually became room temp air!!! Nothing I did made a difference!! The rest of the trip was miserable, I parked in the garage unloaded car about 2 hours later moved car and air was blowing great... like the whole thing never happened!!! I am hopeful someone is familiar with this problem so I can give the dealer an idea of what's happening. All the posts end with I took it to the dealer..., they tried this..., we got a big bill and still no ac! I don't want this to be me!!!!

Acadia SLE

  • Automatic transmission

We have a 2009 Acadia that we bought new. As soon as the warranty ran out, it's been nothing but trouble with a whole lot of cost. I'm so frustrated and angry that I can barely think. Bang Head I've posted here before about our ongoing air conditioning problems. But after the answer or non-answer I got yesterday, I just don't know what to do anymore. Since it's paid for and we have one child in college and another about to go to college, we don't/can't buy another one right now. The AC history is long and drawn out, but the bottom line is we paid a LOT of money to have them replace the evaporator core (which went out 2 months after the warranty went out). We finally got GM to pay for some of it, but we still were out a lot of $$. After removing the entire dash to do this repair and keeping it 2 weeks, the air works sometimes. BUT it has never been right. This has been 4 years ago. I have taken it back to two different dealers numerous times only to be told that since they can't recreate the problem, they don't know how to fix it. It still hisses sometimes like when the evaporator core went out. But now it will work until you drive it for about an hour then you can hear it blowing but there is no air coming out. I've seen several other posts on here describing this same problem. I can also tell when it does it in the winter because there is no air circulation. The dealership will never put in the time for someone to drive it for an hour to even try to recreate the problem. flaming mad Usually, we are on a trip and can't just find a GMC dealer. But yesterday, it finally happened locally. So we drove straight to the dealership, called them to let them know we were coming so we wouldn't have to turn the car off because it may start working. So the guy (who is a very nice guy) gets in and SEES, oh my someone finally SEES, that it is blowing but NO AIR is coming out. It has taken me years for someone besides our family to see this. He takes it back and I finally feel vindicated by all the crazy looks I get when I take it in time after time. Then he brings it back within about 15 minutes and shrugs his shoulders. He says it started working again and when they put it on the machine it didn't give them any codes. So without a code they don't have a clue what the problem is. So I just stood there in disbelief. So what is our next step? He said if I call GM they are just going to send me to them. And he hates to charge us a lot of money to spend time looking for something that doesn't give them a code. For the past two years we have fixed struts, some sort of engine support, any a myriad of other things that have cost us about $3,000/year. And so really, GM can't spend their OWN money to figure out what seems to be a common problem? Can you tell I'm furious? I really don't know what to do. Getting rid of it isn't really an option right now. The AC does semi-ok around the small town where we live. It still doesn't blow well even when it's working. Any ideas? Can we fight GM? Or is a fruitless battle? I can tell you this, I won't ever buy another GM car again. And I'm the dummy who wanted to buy this one. My husband is not as furious as I am. He is a much calmer soul who I wish I was more like.
