Don't get me wrong, I love my Acadia... But it has been nothing but an emissions/exhaust system nightmare. In less than 1 year I have had to have a misfire repaired (which of course is not a simple task anymore because some brilliant engineers decided that you should have to take apart half the damn engine to be able to even get to the plugs), I have had TWO O2 sensors replaced and then yesterday my light comes on and now its my cat. Freaking great.

I have taken it in and paid for diagnostics twice (at over $100 each) because it seemed like it started hesitating when getting on the freeway or just accelerating in general. There was no engine light when it was diagnosed for each O2 sensor. After those were replaced it seemed to run better - but never for more than 2,000 miles before another issue has come up.

I have had this car for over 20,000 miles so this may not seem like that big of a deal to some - but in reading other Acadia owner's complaints - it seems like GMC has some exhaust system issues in this vehicle that need to be addressed. Or maybe that misfire just wreaked havoc on the rest of the system. But if that IS the case - then it is still an issue because there is no reason that a misfire - which was replaced almost immediately - should domino to this extent.

So I just purchased this vehicle in Sept. 2015 with 79,000 miles on it. Beautifully built vehicle aesthetically. Since September I have come out of pocket for 2 Diagnostic tests to determine the cause of the check engine light coming on randomly ($110 each at the GMC Dealership). I have had to take it to the GMC Dealership to have 3 recalls repaired, one that has to be repeated because it wasn't done properly.

I have paid $500 to have the plugs and a coil changed because it began randomly misfiring ($500 because some engineering genius thought it would be funny to install the intake in the way of the back 3 plugs so that it will cost owners and additional $200 in labor as well as $70 for the intake gasket alone just to change the spark plugs) and I pick it up and would you believe I actually got a whole hour of peace with it before the damn catalytic converter went out and now it wont budge... At least I can sit in the driveway and listen to music in my beautiful $40,000 yard ornament.

So today, on New Year's Eve, I get to call a wrecker to tow the SOB back to the shop so I can write ANOTHER $500 check a week after Christmas just so that I can drive back and forth to work next week. Seriously?! I realize you can have problems with any used car you purchase, but generally when you buy a vehicle that has only had one previous owner and all the service records show it has been maintained as recommended by GMC, and has less than 80,000 miles on it, you generally expect to get at least 6 months out of it before you cant even drive the damn thing, repeatedly.
